[/i] "E femm caa fryd E lyh tu. E bnuseca."As the man addressed the woman who had approached him Inside 'The Crow's Nest', a newly established tavern helmed by Austin Huntsman, his hand had quickly been writing of a contract of sorts. Thylan had been hired to keep track of bounties or other tasks and in his down time serve those who came to drink. What he wrote was written in the native Cduha language was the full details of the the task at hand. The woman would seat herself at the bar and find her eyes curiously scanning her surroundings as the man took time to grab another piece of parchment and began translate it into English, which wasn't perfect yet. "Bmayca keja ic ihdem dra aht uv dra hekrd du kydran y byndo. E yccina oui, fa femm kad du dra puddus uv drec, Lhena.""Dryhg oui, Thylan."Thylan would give a single firm nod of his head before he would excuse himself and move through the pub and out the front door, to where a rectangular sheet of metal had been turned into a sign of sorts. Upon the slab was a few scrolls of parchment already, however he would grab two of these small strange 'magnets', as the star people called them and post both the native and English versions of the writ. Reaching up toward the right, a large bell would be rung three times. The bell would signal to those within the area that a new task had been brought their way, with three rings signaling urgency. Those seeking to help others, scratch their adventurous itch or simply to cure boredom, would find those writs requesting a small gathering inside for briefing, when the sun set. After Thylan rang the bell, he would head back inside and take his position behind the counter and give Lhena a reassuring smile. There was still about and hour to kill before the sun went down. & touch another soul with not just her hands
but with her heart Despite her position, Selena had found she had very little to do, which didn't suit her busy-body persona. And so when she heard the ringing of the bell, while not exactly the adventurous sort, the doctor saw it as a way to put herself forward and help those in need. Making her way to the tavern immediately, given the apparent urgency, Selena read the English version of the request. Her blue eyes slid over to the other. In time, she knew she would learn the language. She was decent with them, after all, but Selena wasn't nearly there yet, especially after she needed time to heal from her injuries after the crash landing and rebuild her immune system.
Going back to her place, the healer gathered what supplies she could and what she believed would be appropriate, namely her standard medical and mission-oriented supplies, before returning. She was likely the first to arrive, always one to be early when she could, and so Selena would patiently wait, ordering whatever sweeter drinks may have been available. She absentmindedly rubbed her hands, gaze frequently held towards the door in hopes she would catch sight of someone she knew. At the very least, it would be a comfort on the mission to be with old friends and acquaintances.

--- Cereza wasn't the most social person since they had crash landed. It had a lot to do with a message she had received sometime after launch. It screwed up her entire mood and flipped her personality just far enough. She was constantly teetering on a edge. The only thing that helped and that was just enough was attempting to keep herself busy by any means necessary. The stillness drove her crazy. She was always a busy body but it never felt like a necessity till now. Wearing a black hooded jacket, the hood itself was on completely - covering her face just enough. Underneath was her new shortened haircut which most was swooped to the left adding more cover. She stood with her arms folded just a short distance across from Austin's tavern. Though she avoided him often the past month, she started finding herself somewhat around the area once in awhile but never for too long. Maybe because despite her inner turmoil she made a promise to him she subconsciously was keeping. --- She fiddled with one of her knives till a keep came out and placed up a task or whatever anyone wanted to call it. The bell chimed with urgency but she moved with none letting a little time pass by, mostly watching who was around. Who was looking and interested. Just as she finally decided to cross over a woman rushed before and hurried away just as she came. Cereza looked over the two pieces of parchment, she had been picking up the language as well here and there but she wasn't perfect yet. She debated with herself about helping or not as she stepped back across the way to where she previously was. It wasn't really her problem was it? The selfishness was peaking. They weren't gonna make it far if they didn't work together right? If they didn't help when needed to form alliances right? Austin would've been drilling that into her and she would've agreed once upon a time without needing to be told. She really needed to upgrade from her downgraded attitude. The woman from before had returned and entered, obviously she was interested in the mission. Nonchalantly she found herself strolling inside and took a seat not so much in a corner but still mostly away from most. She kept on her backpack not wanting to risk someone attempting to take it. She wasn't the most trusting person so this would prove most interesting. Now the waiting game right?

While Orion had done much with the Cduha tribe upon the unexpected landfall, he had stayed with the Terra Nova group after. However, here he ran into a minor issue: he was a teacher without any students. Or curriculum, but that could be remedied given enough time... And possibly somehow tapping into local earth wifi from here but whatever. Worst case he could devise his own.
However... This left him sort of at loose ends. So, when the bell rang, Orion decided he may as well sign up. Missions he had been on hadn't gone wrong yet, not counting the spaceship thing.

Kalliope was bored-- insatiably so. She was busy in the morning (she'd managed to grab a hold of Jilintor so she could sneak in a couple of phonetics lessons while she had his attention), but now she was at a loss at what to do. She was hardly helpful when it came to building and construction, since she couldn't really carry anything heavy due to the odd nature of her bones. She patched up wounds pretty well, but it wasn't like there was a trickle of people with injuries coming in at every hour of the day. Teaching Jilintor and the local kids English was... a gamble, at best. She could make great strides with them when she had their attention, but eventually they'd get distracted and run off to go play. She possessed the temperament and patience for teaching children, but not the finesse needed to have them listen to her. She'd figure it out eventually, she concluded.
She'd been wandering around Terra Novus, looking for something to do, when she heard the chime of bells. Curious, she made her way to the source of the noise. The newly-opened tavern had been a place of interest to many, recently, but Kal still hadn't even gone inside the place yet, unsure if a pub was the kind of place she'd want to hang out around. She noted the new piece of parchment on the metal board outside, and read its contents, mostly out of passing interest. What she was delighted to see, however, was that it offered something to do. She looked up, noting how the sun was low in the sky. She had some time before sunset, but not much.
She ran to her room to get her satchel and a couple of things she thought she might need if she was going to be out, before she made her way back over to the tavern with a skip in her step.
Kal walked into the establishment, enlisting herself for this new assignment upon doing so. She wore a corduroy jacket with some basic grey shorts and decent boots, taking a more comfy and functional approach to her choice of attire. She glanced around the room, taking note of the other patrons, but hardly recognizing any of them. She'd seen them around Terra Novus, maybe, but none of whom were people she regularly spoke with. This'll be a good opportunity to work with new people.
Kal went to go sit at an empty table, close to the center of the establishment. It couldn't be long before sunset, so she waited patiently for any other people to arrive.

Post by Valo Morei on Feb 18, 2019 3:46:10 GMT
A group of natives were running for their lives; a large, hungry beast chasing them with the desire to feast. Despite their efforts though, the beast was faster. And as they made it into a forest clearing, one of the natives tripped. The others would stop, wanting to help their friend, but were powerless to do so as the beast fast approached. They shut their eyes in fear, and the grounded native would scream as the beast leapt at them.
A loud bang resonated through the air as a beam struck the beast in the side, causing it to fly far off course as it crashed into a tree. It got up, hurt but angry as it stared at the source of the blast. Valo stood there, smoke flowing out of the barrel of his rifle as he walked closer, weapon still trained on the beast.
"Cdyo pylg, E kud drec ihtan luhdnum!" He called out, and the natives would rush out of the clearing as the beast started to charge towards Valo with the goal of tearing him to shreds. Valo would fire several beams at the beast as it approached, but it would do little to slow it down as it continued its rush, despite the blood it was losing. Gritting his teeth, Valo would let go of his gun as it fell to his side, hanging on his body from a strap as he would reach to grab the spear off of his back. The beast leapt at him, and Valo quickly aimed the spear upwards as it collided with him.
He fell to the ground with the beast on top of him, gasping in pain from how heavy the creature was. Blood soaked the earth, and he was terrified for a moment before he realized that his spear had successfully plunged into the beast's chest. In moments, it would fall limp as it finally died, and Valo would grunt as he pushed the creature off of him. He sighed in relief as the natives ran up to him, cheering happily.
"Ayo mefit om! Dnerg ayo, yodmutih!" One of them exclaimed, and Valo would give a small smile as he got up to his feet. "U'cc imsyhd ayo pesg dy Terra Novus, mdea scymi dy li." He replied before retrieving his spear, cleaning the blood from the blade as he started to tie ropes around the deceased beast.
Valo would bring the beast back to camp with the help of the natives, escorting them to the safe haven of Terra Novus. The journey was relatively uneventful, and his hunt had been both successful and he was happy to ensure the safety of other denizens. Dropping the creature off with the proper staff to ensure it would be properly stored for later meals, Valo would bid farewell to the small group before making his way through Terra Novus. He always enjoyed making his way through this place, as something new was always unfolding, and their encampment was always growing.
He would hear the sounds of the bells, and curiously make his way over to the source. What he found was the tavern he had heard so much about, but not yet visited. The owner was an old associate of his, yet Valo felt he hadn't spoken to the man in a long time. Reading the parchment outside, Valo wondered if he should take up another job already, but he wanted to do his part to support the people of Terra Novus. Making his way inside, he was surprised to see a few familiar faces- notably Cereza, the good doctor Selena, and his girlfriend Kalliope, who caused his eyes to light up. He wasn't expecting to see her here, and he would make his way over to sit over next to her, giving her a friendly smile and a small "Hey there." before waiting to see what happened next.

[/b] While paced well, there were still moments of silence between some words as he made sure he selected the correct words to speak. His right hand would gesture to the woman at the far side of the bar. "This is Lhena.. She is from Fangaro, one of the coalition tribes. She has come seeking.. help from Terra Novus. Chuflnacd, a smaller tribe that Fangaro trades with had missed an important trade day.. Important medicine. Fangaro sent a group of scouts to.. investigate and they have not returned." Thylan would fold his hands together, before resting his forearms upon the counter-top as his amber eyes would shift between faces. "I come from Chuflnacd.. Born and raised. If a delay.. was to happen, word would have been sent. I fear something.. else has occurred. What it is, I do not know.." It wouldn't be hard to glean from the way he spoke, that there seemed to be some sort of emotional investment in the request he was about to ask of people who didn't really hold the responsibility of fulfilling it. "I.. humbly request.. your assistance in traveling and making contact with Chuflnacd. Lhena here will be able.. to guide you.. She does not know your language though. If you leave in the morning.. you should be able to reach the tribe before sundown.. tomorrow. This should.. give you time to prepare and rest."He would give a sideways glance toward Lhena, before giving a final nod to the group. "Please, if you have any.. questions, ask. If you choose not to assist, I.. understand and thank you for.. your time." Thylan would finally remain silent and glance about the foreign faces, awaiting potential questions. [/ul] [/blockquote]

--- Under her hood her gray hues flickered about the room, watchful and mindful of those entering and exiting. As the time was winding down there were a few still left in the establishment after sunset including herself. One she recognized from passing, Valo she believed his name was, but she didn't truly know him in terms of having a friendship. That was the thing on her mind about doing something like this. Entrusting your own well being to others, especially when you had no connection with them was a bit concerning. Nevertheless she shoved the thought aside for now as the barkeep, Thylan, began speaking. --- His English wasn't so bad. It was notable the pauses in between to ensure he chose wisely and gave them the proper information. Cereza had shifted in her seated position, to get a look at the girl Lhena as he introduced her. She was the one seeking their help because an important shipment went missing in transit, as well scouts they had sent in search of what could've happened. Just on that basis alone something sounded sketchy. Obviously there was more to what happened. Whatever it was Cereza doubted it was pleasant. This was a foreign world, even with a month in, there was no way of knowing everything there was. It was still a matter of discovery, so whatever this journey was going to entail they would need to be cautious. Their guide wouldn't be familiar with their language, and Cereza was only partly familiar with theirs. That was her own fault for not communicating more, but she had a feeling amongst the group someone knew it better. Or at least she hoped so. She could hear the personal connection Thylan had resonating in his voice, however something struck Cereza that she had to ask. "Considering the sense of urgency the matter seems to entail, why wait to leave in the morning rather now? I'm assuming as you said the medicine is important, should you risk any further delay?"--- She was honestly just curious why the wait. Was it better to travel then than now? As she said it seemed urgent enough that time shouldn't be further wasted. That was just her thoughts. Not that she didn't disagree with some kind of preparation, logically that seemed sound but if it was so dire they could discuss possible ideas on the way. She was fine on the resting part though.

Orion simply listened as Thylan spoke, providing background and details as to what was being asked of them. Having spent a few months with a tribe, Orion was well aware how close a bond tribespeople shared with one another. Thylan was deeply worried for his people, for more than just the economic reasons of the medicine being important.
That said, he too wondered why the day's delay. Common sense did say that it would be best to prepare and get a good night's sleep before heading into investigating a disappearance like that, however depending on the urgency that luxury may not be available. He remained quiet however, simply listening; someone else had already asked. Plus he had already signed up: he was going to do this either way.

Kalliope beamed when she saw Valo, giving him a sunny smile as he sat beside her. "Fancy meeting you here," she spoke, noting how he looked a little roughed-up from his hunt earlier. She was going to ask him how it went when it seemed their host deemed it a good time to debrief the tavern's few patrons on the task at hand. His English was surprisingly good, she noted. Kal was still learning the languages in the area, so she admired how fast people were able to become fluent in a foreign language in a matter of weeks.
She, like the woman who spoke up, was also curious as to why they didn't just leave that evening. While it would be a good idea to go and rest, Kal had... other reasons why she'd rather not wait out the night.
She gave Valo a worried look before redirecting her attention to the current congregation. Rather than speak out in fear that Thylan would just be pressured by a dissent in opinion, Kal remained silent, interested in hearing what the man's reply was to the woman's inquiry. Either way, she'd respect the man's final decision, whatever it was.

but with her heart Given her position as primary doctor back on Earth and on the Initiative's ship, Selena had recognized everyone that entered the tavern, and she smiled. It was a comfort to see so many familiar faces. The woman patiently listened to the native man relay his story and request. Given the Fangaro tribe's medical needs, after Cereza asked her question, Selena, too, asked her own, "Whether we leave in the morning or tonight, if anyone within Lhena's tribe requires immediate medical attention, I can offer my services as a healer, if necessary. At the very least, I could keep anyone in need stable, if not replicate or recreate medication."
Of course, by the sounds of it, the likelihood of injury or death from the missing persons was high. She could always do both, although it would stretch her thin, a small note of concern given her near recent collapse. But Selena was more than prepared to do what was necessary in order to save lives, as she always was, and her blue eyes conveyed her dedication.

Valo listened to the people in front of them intently, their knowledge of English by this point rather impressive. He rather enjoyed how different races from different planets were working together to be friendly and share what they knew with the other. However, it wasn't exactly the right time for celebration, as they explained what the mission entailed.
Lost medicine, missing scouts, and a lot of cause to worry. What caused the most concern however was the fact that they wanted to wait until morning to send out a search party, despite saying how urgent it was. He exchanged a worried look with Kalliope, knowing full well what the night held in store, and he'd reach over to hold her hand comfortingly.
Cereza had spoken up about the sense of urgency, so he remained quiet as he locked fingers with Kalliope, wondering to see if they would change their mind on when to go, or if they'd need to tough the night out. A good night's rest was a good idea, but he was ultimately concerned it would be anything but. And the more time they dawdled, the less the chances were of the scouts even being alive.

[/b] Thylan's pale green iris' had settled upon the first woman who spoke as he explained his reasoning for offering a rest. They would then sweep toward the rest as he continued. "If you plan to leave now, I'm sure Lhena will not object. I would.. suggest that you bring something warm. Chuflnacd resides close to the frost fields, it will get.. cold."He would have directed a nod toward Selena when she spoke. Having a healer of some kind on their side would likely benefit the group before him and his old clan, should they need it. Part of him wished he could accompany them to his place of birth, however Thylan had other commitments he had to uphold. He would move away from the center of the counter, heading toward the far end before he would whisper into Lhena's ear. She would stand, glance about at the group and then take her leave. "If you do.. feel like leaving now, Lhena will be waiting for you at the.. northern edge of Terra Novus. She will be waiting for you whenever you are ready. Thank you, again." So long as no one else addressed him, Thylan would return to cleaning the counter before turning to the glasses that were used to serve patrons. ------------ The native woman set to guide them would be found sitting near the edge of the colony, sitting with her legs crossed like an indian with nothing but unyielding patience. A blade rested across her knees as she produced a small carved wooden capsule. Tilting it, a cloudy liquid would be drizzled along the length of the blade. She would follow it was a rag, rubbing it in as she waited. She didn't know these people, only the rumors that came with their presence. She didn't trust them, nor was it likely she would come to easily. Outsiders, she considered them. Lhena wouldn't even be here if she had not been ordered to seek help from the 'Star-Fallen'. Whether the wait was quick or took all night, she would remain seated where she was until the group arrived, ready to leave at a moments notice. [/ul] [/blockquote]

--- Cereza was never objected to holding off for the night and leaving in the morning. Of course there were benefits in getting some rest and prepping to leave, she was just merely curious. She could appreciate his consideration at least. Cereza had merely figured there would be some sense of urgency in their plight but it seemed they were willing to wait some few more hours. As Cereza long deduced the nights were often more dangerous than the day. Books, movies should've taught everyone that. She did always find that interesting though, but that was a play on dark v.s. light so it couldn't be helped. Cereza kept her eyes vigil on the group then back at Thylan and the native woman called Lhena. She was picking up a vibe that Lhena wasn't very pleased. Can't say she didn't blame her after all they were a group of strangers she was going to be throwing her trust into. After Thylan whispered in the woman's ear she took her leave and he spoke of where she would be when they were good and ready. --- Gray hues followed her form only briefly before looking about the room once more. She had a feeling the lot would opt for taking the nights rest, though it was the ideal option she figured they would lose a little time in the process however what good would they be if they were spent before getting there. Taking note of the members in the room she was a little unsure of entrusting even her own well-being to others - but then again she was always like that. The doctor had a specific duty which being honest Cereza felt she would uphold - but they would have to offer her some cover she gathered. The other male she really didn't know. Valo, by the seeing of him locking hands with the girl beside him, had something more invested to watch out for in this mission. Cereza already deduced the girl was going to be number one to protect for him and vice versa. She could be wrong but she kinda doubted it. Hopefully this mission would go smoothly cause she was slightly concerned about these factors. But then of course there was herself, was she the wildcard? Cereza got up and headed to the door, stopping at the entrance way - turning to address everyone including Thylan. "That answers my curiosity, thank you Thylan. I guess we'll be seeing each other in the morning. I'm sure we each need a few more things and you already look a little worn. It would be for the best to rest, otherwise who are you rescuing."--- She was referring to Valo Morei as the worn out one, the last was for the rest. She would take her leave after that despite if someone spoke to her or not. At least she said anything at all honestly the way she had been lately. She headed to her current home and re-packed her bag for the morning before catching some rest. Hours later she would arrive where Thylan said Lhena was awaiting. Patience was a virtue they said and it seemed the woman had a lot of it. Cereza still wore her hood as she approached, seeing that she seemed to be the first to arrive. Cereza had picked up on some of the language but she could've learned more had she really applied herself, rather than drowning in the inner abyss. But that being said she did know something to at least greet the woman. "Sunhehk.. Hela... blade."--- Simple 'morning' seemed suffice. Cereza was an admirer of blades so seeing Lhena's she attempted to comment, though she didn't know the word for blade. She remembered what Thylan said about Lhena not really knowing their language but she figured visually she would figure it out when Cereza pointed towards her blade. Now was just a matter of waiting on the others. Obscurity
