On the back of his neck, Orion possesses a tattoo of the yin-yang symbol. On the back of his right hand is tattooed a simple arrow pointing at his fingers.

Personality: Orion is a laid-back compassionate individual, fairly easy-going and friendly with most anyone he meets. Slow to anger and quick with a smile, Orion tries his best to seem approachable and reliable with those he interacts with. If truly pushed to anger, Orion will go truly berserk according to his heritage from his father’s side of the family, that of the Viking Berserkers of old.
Background: Orion is from a fairly normal background. Loving parents, an older sister, decent neighborhood in Arizona. He spent his childhood playing soccer with friends, playing video games, and going to a normal school, excelling in regards to mathematics. 2 years into high school, however, a gang of delinquents decided to try and pick a fight with him. Repeatedly. He bore their insults and petty gestures with an easy manner, brushing them off as meaningless and laughing as if they didn't matter. This spiraled further and further downward until one day, it was spread around that Orion and his family were moving to the other side of the US, all the way to Washington. For whatever reason, this drove his “tormentors” far past rationality into madness, both of emotion and mind.
Staying late after school that day to collect his grades from his teachers, Orion left the school only to be set upon by 6 kids who were no longer mere bullies, practical jokesters. Before he even realized the threat, he had been smashed upside the head by something heavy and knocked unconscious. When he awoke, it was to find himself tied to a chair, a fair distance into the desert with his assailants assembled around him. Their madness drove them to beat him mercilessly, all in an attempt to make him break and react.
They eventually succeeded. Much to their misfortune.
Orion’s temper, long kept at bay with a seeming infinite well of patience and joviality, snapped. And along with it, something deep within himself did as well. He blacked out as rage suffused him, his next waking thought being that of witnessing the dead bodies of his assailants, slashed and bruised horrifically by compressed sand that was slowly returning to normal, their bodies making deep indents where they lay. Orion fled the scene, unwilling to be held accountable for self-defense of this magnitude, and instead concocted a story of a stranger in the desert who had appeared and saved him by mere chance. The next day, his family moved, spurred to move faster by this “horrible tragedy”.
Experimenting in secret, Orion found he could manipulate the earth around him to a fair degree. What felt more RIGHT to him, however, was another power: the ability to manipulate the gravitational pull, to alter the effects of gravity. Through these two powers, he began to train in secret, swearing to never allow himself to suffer again in that manner, let alone the thought of such happening to anyone else. He wore bands of earth under his clothes, constantly training to improve his strength and endurance, very slowly and carefully increasing the effects of gravity on his person: to do otherwise would be a death sentence, as his organs were only capable of supporting so much of his weight at any given time. He graduated high school with high marks, going on to college immediately after and graduating after 4 years with a degree in mathematics education, a fully certified teacher.
4 years after, while between teaching jobs, Orion was found out to be someone with a Gift. Claiming it was his ability to manipulate earth, he soon found himself transferred to the Astraeus Institute.
Here's hoping they need a teacher.

Strengths:
Quick Logic: As someone who is specialized in mathematics and in passing that understanding on to others, Orion is very quick at applying logic to many of his problems, rapidly running through possible outcomes in his mind.
Relax: As part of his laid-back personality, Orion is very difficult to truly anger, and he rarely accumulates stress or feels pressured. This trait keeps him rational under extreme situations and keeps him cool and collected, often times making him the center of whatever storm is happening.
Mighty Glacier: Orion trains his body constantly through his gift, pressuring his body with increased gravity to build up his strength and endurance on a near constant basis, only removing these burdens in intense combat, when he sleeps, and twice a week in order to ensure recovery between workouts.
Weaknesses:
BERSERKER!: The other side of the coin. If pushed to true anger, Orion goes berserk, attempting to inflict heavy quantities of physical violence upon whatever has made him snap, heedless of collateral damage to himself, others, or nearby property.
Slow: Orion’s body is built for brute strength, not speed. While under normal Earth gravity, he's a fairly slow runner/sprinter, only able to clock in an 11 minute mile. He much prefers walking anyway.
Nearsighted: Orion is nearsighted, and instead of getting corrective surgery or contacts, he wears glasses. His vision will be hampered if he loses the glasses or if they are dirty enough, hence why he constantly keeps a small cloth to wipe them with. Before the trip that resulted in the crash at the strange land, Orion underwent surgery to fix his eyesight.

Bound to his primary Gift, this Mantle acts to emulate details of a gravity shifting soldier from a video game series from Earth. When not active, it remains bound to Orion's personal gravitational field and doesn't actually exist. When active, it takes on a deep dark blue and almost light consuming black coloration; though it does not actually consume light. Upon Orion's will, it forms into a tubular shape over his right shoulder to fire blasts of warped gravitational fields at a midrange foe, exploding for concussive effects.
