When Orion awoke, aches and pains shot through his entire body. From head to toe, there was no part of him that did not scream out, at least momentarily, for relief. After a short period spent regaining his bearings, he would find he was in a circular room, made entirely of... dirt, rock, and mud? At least, as far as he could tell. Above him, the stone was molded to look as though they were the bars of a prison. On his person, he would see he was still wearing the outfit he left home in, but his personal belongings would otherwise be stripped. He would have none of his equipment, even to his shoes.
From through the bars above, he would hear the voice of a small child call out to him, in a tongue he could not understand.
"Yna oui yfyga?"

Orion barely restrained a groan of pain as he came to, body screaming in agony. Last thing he remembered was falling asleep on the ship... And judging by his surroundings? This was no longer the ship. Nor, he considered, feeling the effects of gravity upon his body and the feel of the stone beneath and around him, Earth. After a few moments concentration he had a grip on the pain wracking his body, enough that he slowly sat up, stifling grunts of pain as his body became adjusted to moving.
As he heard a voice above him, he froze. One? He didn't recognize it, and he knew the voice of everyone from the ship. It was also too young. Secondly? He didn't recognize the langauge.
Oh shit.

When he didn't respond, the voice above called out with an "Oy," a universal call for attention. Through the cell, he could see a small figure of a child, though he would be able to make out no details from the lighting. The figure would do a kicking motion, and a few rocks would fall into the cell, near Orion's feet.
"Fru yna oui?"

Orion would look up and see the small child, who kicked a few small rocks through the bars... That were also made of stone. Well if things went south... None of the rocks landed on him, probably no intention to hit him, just get his attention. As the child spoke again, Orion kept silent, merely tilted his head and allowed an expression of confusion to appear on his face.

The figure was silent in response to Orion's own silence, before it suddenly leaned back and the light of the sun bore down on it. Orion would be able to tell now that it was a young boy, clad in tribal gear of some sort. "Vydran! Ra ec yfyga!" he called out, the words still unrecognizable. After speaking them, the boy looked down at Orion again and simply waved, before turning and running off.
Moments later, a large shadow would be cast over the cell, keeping it almost completely dark, as a towering figure stepped over the hole and looked inside.
"Uidcetan," it spoke, though remained motionless.

Orion watched as the now revealed boy stepped away and called out to someone. After the boy gave a small wave of farewell and disappeared. The tribal clothing was interesting... And important. In a few moments someone else came up. Someone much bigger, who also called out in that unknown language. Orion in response closed his eyes and shook his head briefly, opening them and looking up at the man with confusion still upon his features.

The man frowned, though it could hardly be seen through the cell. There was a barrier of language, this much he was certain of, but the expression on his own face matched one of confusion as well. Looking to the side, he beckoned for something, and moments later another figure appeared. This new figure handed him a gourd, and he dropped that gourd into the hole. Upon landing, water would spill from its opening.
"Tnehg," he said, then made a motion as though he were drinking something.

Language barriers... Not something he expected. Then again, didn't expect to apparently crash or encounter primitive(?) life either. Orion watched as another briefly appeared, handing an object to the one above him. The object was then dropped next to him, revealed to be a gourd full of water. The stranger pantomimed drinking from it; Orion, unknowing of how long since he had last done so and accepting that if these people wanted him dead he wouldn't have awoken, did so.

As Orion began to drink, the stones forming the bars to the cell shifted and removed themselves, sinking back into the earth. As they did so, the circular room began to shift, slow enough that Orion would still be standing and be able to follow the turn as it did. It continued, until finally Orion would be standing on equal ground with the man, rather than beneath him. Clearly, the earth itself had been shifted. From this new position, Orion had clearer lighting, and could more accurately view the figure before him. This man walked into the cell, a towering figure that stood easily a foot over Orion in height, and stared down at him. Patting himself on the chest, he spoke, "Laros." Then, with a large finger, he pointed to Orion, poking at the symbol of the initiative on his chest. "Fru?"

Orion paid careful attention as he slowly rose. A gift? So it seemed. He may have been able to stop the earth, testing his own gift, but he didn't. For one, there was no reason to. For another, better he keep his tricks secret until needed. As he finished rising, standing up as he rose, looking up at the man before him. Quickly naming himself Laros, the man tapped Orion, apparently inquiring his own name.
Orion reached a hand up slowly but smoothly, tapping his chest above the symbol of the institute. "Orion."
After doing so, he lowered his hand a bit and tapped on the symbol. "Astraeus"

Laros frowned, then made attempts to sound out the names provided, with admitted and evident difficult. After a moment, he shook his head, then looked down at Orion's eyes. Names were given, making one part of this encounter far easier, but questions still remained unanswered, information still needed to be exchanged.
"Orion," he said, pointing at the man, then his finger moved out to the sky. "lysa vnus... Cgo." With those words, he waited, and the boy from earlier came inside. In his hands was a piece of the Starsquall's hull, the metal being handed to Laros. Pointing to the metal, he inquired, "Fryd ec drec?"

Orion waited as the man, Laros, worked on sounding out the names provided. After a time, Laros spoke his name with inflection, garnering his attention. The man spoke, pointing to the sky and then, as the boy from before came back, to the metal in his hands. Orion nodded tentatively at the pantomimed question, a look of uncertainty on his face.

From the way his mouth moved, it was clear Laros was displeased with the language barrier, but he made no aggressive moves just yet. He shouted, beckoning for the boy from before to come inside. The boy rushed, and handed Laros what looked like Orion's belongings from before he'd fallen. It was not everything, but a few of the things from his cabin on the Starsquall. Laros lifted what appeared to be his identification card, and pointed to the words, sounding them out.
"Orion... Ssss... Smith," he said, a cocked brow beneath his mask. "Ast... raeus..? Astraeus," he nodded, confirming the words Orion spoke before. It seemed that, while the languages were different, they remarkably shared an alphabet.
"Fryd ec Astraeus?"

Orion was many things. A man who could shape earth and stone. A man who can manipulate one of the four fundamental forces of the universe. However, one of the biggest things he identifies as is a teacher. A scholar. And while he is a teacher of mathematics, he is still gifted in critical thinking and the realm of academia. You had to have a certain level of psychological and academic capability in general to be a teacher, after all.
That in mind, Orion watched as the boy ran off only to return with some of his belongings. He didn't tense up or become worried; for all he knew, they were simply maintaining his gear. As he watched Laros actually be able to read his card, despite the language barrier, he came to the conclusion that they shared an alphabet. And if they shared an alphabet...
Orion held up a finger to signal waiting for a moment, before kneeling down. Quickly but precisely, he began to draw a row of letters into the dirt; his alphabet, in order. Once he finished all 26 characters, he would move back a little and set the gourd directly above the alphabet. On the right side of the gourd, he carefully spelled the word "water" into the dirt, the letters facing towards Laros.
If they could match each other's alphabet, then there was a possibility of overcoming the language barrier, at least through the written word. For the immediate time period, anyway.

Laros watched, confused, as Orion did what he did. The man started writing out the alphabet, but in a strange order that nearly left the man utterly confused. However, when finally, Orion spelled it out with the water, the man nodded his head approvingly, and let out a joyous laugh. He took a knee in the dirt, and spelled out, underneath "Water," his peoples' word. "Fydan" would be written out, and after it was, he found the corresponding letters in the alphabet written out and put his letters under those Orion wrote.
So far, the following was known: A = Y E = A R = N T = D W = F
"Drec ec kuut, Orion!" Laros shouted happily.
