Laros shook his head, indignant. Orion did not appear to be lying, but something still was amiss.
"You built a ship to sail the seas, and an explosion brought you into the sky and down upon us. And you expect me to believe such a thing?"

Orion realized he missed something in his last reply. Oops.
"The ship was designed for us to sail the sky, not the sea. I'm sorry but that's all I know; I played no part in designing or building the ship. As I said, I'm a teacher. A scholar. Not a builder. I was mainly along to record what we found."

Laros knew not whether Orion was a liar or a fool, or simply too far from home to understand the problem with his story. So, wordlessly, the man stood to his feet. In the sand, the word "Follow" would be written, before Laros made his way out of the cell. After adjusting to the brightness of the sun, Orion would be able to view Cduharusa in all of its glory, a city made entirely of stone. Based on Laros' gift, it was quite apparent they built the place by hand, even the largest of structures, without the use of tools and the like. Stones would follow them, with which Laros would shape words. He could not speak this language of Orion's just yet, but he remembered the alphabet and how to shape it. With these stones, the first thing he wrote would be, "This is our home. So long as you can prove you are no threat, you will be welcome to stay here as long as you need." Laros would give Orion a short amount of time to adjust, before continuing.

Orion blinked in surprise as Laros stood, but followed along as bidden by the sand. As he did, his eyes widened. This city... Cduharusa... It was a marvel. Built solely of stone, judging by Laros's gifts it was constructed with no tools. Only hands and minds working together. Laros formed words in front of him, stating that if Orion proved to be no threat he would be allowed to stay. Lacking any convenient method to answer without giving away one of his gifts, Orion simply bowed his head in acknowledgement.

After Orion was more properly adjusted to things, the stone they stood on begin to rise, being pulled from the ground by Laros' gift. It ascended into the air, passing even over the enormous walls of Cduharusa, that they might gaze upon the horizon. Laros merely pointed out before them at the chaos that was the open sea, with which they shared a border.
The waters of the sea were violent, crashing against Cduha mountains with incredible force. Some of the waves stretched hundreds of feet into the air, smashing through the mountains for miles past the shore and spotting the crags with ponds. Even further out were larger waves, crashing into each other with force enough that their collisions could be heard even this far away, while at the top of the wall. Violent storms raged above them, the clouds looking more like black fire than anything else. All along the horizon was a scene so vicious, it was as though this planet did not wish for life to proceed past these lands. The sky beyond the continent was blackened with storms and chaos.
"The seas would sunder any ship, water or sky, not of these lands. You came from above, not afar."
Laros pointed directly above himself, at the clearer skies blanketing them with warmth and calm.

Orion stared in awe at the sight before him. He hard heard of hostile environments but this... Taking it all in, he can now see why Laros had trouble believing him. He took it in for a little bit longer before addressing the words in front of him. He read them, pondered for a moment, before pantomiming wishing to return to the ground so he could answer what Laros has told him.

Laros took Orion to the ground so the man could say his piece, and waited patiently. Once the stone was resettled, he simply folded his arms over his chest and waited.

Orion pondered silently for a bit about where to go from here. Sighing, he sat down on the ground cross legged, hands on his knees, head bowed.
Screw it. He wasn't a diplomat or a scientist. Just a teacher in a strange land.
Without any movement or looking, a patch of earth next to Orion would rise up in the form of a stone tablet. After a moments, words would begin to appear, first in Orion's language, then after a moment to translate into Laros's.
"You welcome me as a guest, a kindness unexpected in this strange land. So in turn I will provide you full honesty. The first being my own possession of a gift, as I am now demonstrating.
"We, my people, had already explored the lands. The seas. The skies. Charted out, connected through people and technology, and getting a touch crowded. The next logical step was to go beyond the sky, towards the stars. That was the purpose of Astraeus: to explore both the developing gifts of mankind, and to explore the universe.
"As I have said however, where I am now is completely unknown to me; we did not land here by intent, and this certainly is far beyond our wildest expectations. But here we are. I am guessing the rest of the individuals with me are scattered across this land due to whatever caused our ship to fail and as you said explode."
Orion would then shrug, not looking up.
"As I said... We're so far beyond our original intention that we are utterly lost."

Were Laros' features not hidden, Orion would see his eyes widen in surprise. However, he appeared stoic in visage, simply nodding in response to being shown the gift, perhaps in confidence. While he was skeptical to believe the story, he also saw no other legitimate truths - they could have come from nowhere but above, and they did so. That there was a whole other world beyond the skies, however, and that they were capable of sailing the stars while his people could not even sail their seas... it would take more convincing, down the line.
"Your people will be hunted if they have not already been. Only you have been found by us, so I cannot speak to the fortune of any others. I can promise you the aid of the Cduha, however, if you will provide for us as well."
It was an open offer, one Laros had little problem making. Cduha were strong, but they were not a charity. Risking their people to search for strangers would require equal tribute.

Orion stood back up as he read Laros's words, his tablet rising with him. After a moment the tablet cleared and new words were written.
"I'd rather work with you then against you Laros. I appreciate this offer to work together. I'll do what I can to pay for this aid."
Orion offered his hand to Laros to shake as a few more words appeared.
"... Though I may wait to leave for a while until I can do more than simply write on stone to talk."
