The sounds of gusting winds could be heard from all around. Trees swayed rapidly as far as the eye could see - all of them lit up in a surreal way. There was no light in the sky, however what could be seen was the outline of what appeared to be ancient symbols in a forgotten tongue, sitting where clouds normally would.
When Madeleine opened her eyes, she could hear the faint sound of a creaking swing. When the sound was perceived, a playground would come into view, growing ever closer to her until she was only a feet or so away from it. On the swing was a little boy, he was facing the other way, slumped over with his hands tightly grasping the chains. The creak of the swing would grow ever so eerie, until the wind suddenly stopped.

Madeleine's eyes slowly opened as a yawn escaped her lips. The strange seen all around her was one that took quite some time to register; she slept in a room filled with strange lights, surrounded by the sounds of the pained and damned, as it was comforting to her. This, however... was different. Slowly, she sat up, and when she noticed the sound, her eyes fixated on the playground that was... coming toward her?
What manner of trickery was this?
In a panic, the woman began to crawl backward, only to realize there was no point. She cursed under her breath, then stood to her feet. Looking around, she tried to see what else was nearby. Either she was trapped in her dream, or she was kidnapped by an illusionist... she couldn't tell which she preferred.
"Hey, kid. Where the fuck are we?"

The little boy would not seem to acknowledge Madeleine. In fact, he would simply begin swinging again. But instead of the usual back and forth motion, he would just go up... and up... and up... and up... until finally his meek body fell backwards, neck snapping on the cold ground as his body melted into the blackened grass - his head remaining.
The head would roll to a stop under Madeleine's feet, and a single cartoon-like eye would open in the center of it. Before she could react, the head would explode, and the eye would float into the sky, expanding until it towered over her. The symbols would light up briefly before vanishing.
"Wow, you must be really confused," She would hear. Although there was no mouth, it was clear the eye was responsible for the voice. "Welcome to the Mindscape! Your host, the one and only, me!"

The kid just kept going. There was no way that would end well. Up, and up, he went, until - CRACK!
... that was what Madeleine was expecting.
The head rolled over to the woman, and she leaned down to look at it, curious. None of the events leading up to this were normal, so it seemed she'd already grown accustomed to whatever this was. That was, until that eye opened. Her own eyes widened, and she tried to pull her leg back to kick it away from her. It would explode first, however, causing her to fall back in surprise and land on her ass.
"Motherfuck!" she exclaimed, surprised, and could only watch as that... thing appeared above her. The dreamscape, it said?
"Listen, you damn eyeball," she growled, standing up to her feet and ripping some of the blackened grass out of the ground in the process out of frustration. "I got a hair appointment at 8:30 and you better not keep me from that, you hear?!"

Normal Voice Demonic Voice "Ooh, we got a feisty one... hat's off to you Madeleine Delvaux, human from Earth 367. Hey, hair appointment you say? I know a thing or two about fashion. In fact, I know lots of things."Madeleine's hair would explode outwards, twisting up like a unicorn horn in front of her. "I know, I know, you're flattered. Don't thank me yet." The eye would blink, everything around Madeleine disappearing in front of her very eyes. "Speaking of hats, want to see a trick?" Before she had the chance to answer, a triangular body would appear around the eyeball - a small bowtie sitting just under it, a top hat on top, and blue flames engulfing his hands."Most entities call me Zinklebuttworth, but you can call me Z!" He'd chuckle as the false name came out. He would shrink back to normal size, placing a hand just below his eye. "You know, if you'd help me out with one little thing, I could let you go."

"Yada, yada, yada, you're not gonna scare me with a vooooi- HEY! NOT THE HAIR!"
Originally disinterested, Madeleine's hand had been on her hip and she looked away, using her other hand to mimic a talking hand to mock the entity. When she felt her hair being messed with, however, she nearly physically recoiled. It was pulled up in front of her, causing her to scowl as she attempted to comb it back down with her fingers.
"I don't care about any of your damn tricks, Z!" she defaulted to the letter. No way she was going to use that name. "How 'bout you just tell me what you need already?!" She whimpered, clearly in protest. How the hell was she going to use her gift on this eye pyramid tophat-wearing fuck? She had NO idea.

Normal Voice Demonic Voice "If it makes you feel better, kid, Earthlings aren't a fan of you, much less your hair." Z would circle Madeleine, staring at her intensely. "But what do I know? I'm just a triangle. An all seeing triangle." "Hmm... that's a nice necklace. It even has my name on it!" When Madeleine looked down, a shiny platinum necklace would appear dangling from her neck with foreign letters inscribed in it. "Let me have it toots, and I'll send you back to your dimension.""Do we have a deal?" He would finally stop in front of her, holding a hand out for her to shake. The flame around it would dim as he did so. Of course, he had no intention of letting Madeleine go. It was the first time in eons he had toyed with a human, and he intended on making it last, no matter how she reacted.

"You watch your damn mouth you polygon!" Madeleine cried out, her anxiety running wild at the thought that someone might potentially dislike her. There was no way. That couldn't happen. It wasn't possible! She gritted her teeth and pounded her closed fists into her knees to try and calm herself down, which hardly helped. It wasn't till she was given the offer to return home with a simple gesture that she calmed down, even if only a little.
Blinking, she looked down at the necklace. She took not even a moment to inspect it, instead simply tearing it off of herself, shaking the hand, and throwing it at him. "Let me go home!" she growled, attempting to thrall him once their hands touched.

As soon as his hand was shaken, Madeleine's would light ablaze in blue. "Good luck putting that out, sweet-cheeks!" Z would cackle, each bead of the necklace shattering with an amplified blast. Their surroundings would begin to whirl around them, steadily getting faster with every passing second. The remains of the beads would begin to spin around Madeleine as well, coming to a stop just above Z's hat. They seemed to have welded into a symbol of some sort, of what would remain a mystery.
With a snap of his finger, Madeleine would fall, the scene completely escaping her eyes only to be replaced with a new one.
Mirrors would appear all around her, each one projecting a distorted image of her. Z would tower over the new plane, as if he were the sky itself. All that could be hard was the sound of his laughter.

Madeleine could hardly process what was going on around her. The flame, the beads, none of it made sense - she only hoped she was finally going to be able to wake up. But then she heard him speak, and the sickening sound of his cackling, and it brought a lump to her throat. "But you said-" she started, stopping herself when she realized she'd just been played. This was some sort of sick demon and she'd made a deal without even knowing. That had to be it.
None of this was real. It couldn't be. So, while Madeleine fell, she curled into a ball and held herself, trying not to look around or address anything. Her head was buried in her thighs and her fingernails dug into the skin of her knees, even as the mirrors appeared and Z cackled in the sky above her. She began to hyperventilate, but tried slowing her breathing in an attempt to calm herself. It was hardly working. That damn fire on her hand, it wasn't helping. Would it burn her if she tried not to address it? She had no clue. She just wanted out.
"What do you WANT?!"

"Oh gee I don't know, what could little Z possibly want? Oh I know, to get out of this stupid, two dimensional, power dampening prison of a world!" The demon exclaimed, briefly turning red and punching one of the mirrors out, which would blast glass all over Madeleine, however the image would remain. "For as long as you're here, though, I don't have to worry about that!" He would shrink down to normal size, pulling Madeleine to her feet with a flick. "Want to get out of here? You and me both sister, so quit your whining unless you want me to shuffle all the functions of every hole in your face. How about that, huh?"
The mirrors would begin to move around, constructing a small corridor with two rows paralleling each other. "Each of these mirrors is a doorway, and behind each doorway lays a nightmare. Let's say your worst fears, hm? I'd list them all out for you, but I don't believe in spoilers. And if you won't play, I'll play for you!"
Against her will, Madeleine's body would begin to move towards the closest mirror. There was no telling what waited for her on the other side.

"Who's whining now ya flat bastard?" Madeleine snapped back, flinching and groaning as the glass ripped through her clothes and hit her skin. She'd felt far worse in her life, but it was still wildly unpleasant to have to deal with. As she was yanked to her feet, Z would be able to see the fury in her eyes. If she could find a way to hurt him, she was going to do it.
"Let's hurry this up, damn it. I'm gonna fuckin kill you as soon as I get the chance, don't matter what you throw at me!"
There would be no need to force the woman to move. She'd step forward of her own volition, and then force her way toward the first mirror on the right. While Madeleine had no idea how any of this worked, she knew she had no other options.
