[OoC: The following is a beta test for the coming HUNT system for the site. Participants are already chosen and locked. Feel free to take extra equipment like armor, guns, etc., as you might deem necessary. Just don't go overboard.] Though the Cduha are a kind people they do give for the sake of charity. As part of the deal offering their land to the people of the Initiative, it was agreed that they would share their forces and repel some of the savage beasts bringing terror and ruin upon the smaller tribes in their territories. Some smaller threats had been dealt with, but there was a larger one in particular that they could no longer ignore. Laros, leader of the Cduha, told the Initiative of what is called the Hehamycr, or the Ninelash in their language. Though they'd yet to see it themselves, Starke warned the crew he sent to be wary of any and all dangers, and thus permitted them to take any equipment they saw fit to bring with them. Rayndrusa was the name of the village nearest to Initiative territory, bordering them and Cduha almost exactly. When they happened upon this village, the squad assembled would see half of it was destroyed, homes broken apart, walls crushed to rubble, and graves being dug. The grass in the area was seared in a large patch that lead to a trail, filled with what looked to be enormous pawprints. There were a few things to be done here, they could opt to pursue the beast, or ask around town for any information they could get on the Hehamycr.

Post by Hikari Ayama on Feb 20, 2019 5:50:23 GMT
The idea of hunting a foreign animal that she had no knowledge of thrilled Hikari, she had never said yes to something faster in her life. While she'd rather work alone, from the way that Macht talked about this thing she would need help. Given access to the equipment that the institute had, the ninja opted to take very little. Equipping herself with whatever light armor they had, she peruses the equipment for a while before taking two high caliber handguns and enough ammunition to fill two extra magazines. She didn't like guns, and hardly found herself using them but in this scenario they could only do her more good than harm.
Hikari found herself examining the village for far longer than she would've liked when they arrived. The amount of destruction that this monster brought to this town was ridiculous. Keeping her mind off of it, she would be seen climbing the tallest building in sight to get a vantage point on the surrounding area. She'd scout up there for a few minutes before meeting up with Austin Huntsman .

What was the word? Rayndrusa was known to Ji-ho, though he hadn't ever been visited it before - quaint was the word he attributed to it, and his face remained largely blank even as he took in the sight of broken buildings and shattered families. But what was the word? Graves were never a good sign, and he quickly assumed that the carnage was the aftermath of a certain, well known creature. The young man couldn't help but sigh to himself, dejectedly, having watched one person look for a trail while another climbed to the highest point. What was the word? He frowned slightly as he scratched his head-
Infinitesimal! Despite the heavy atmosphere and the no doubt downtrodden faces of the villagers, the situation was infinitesimal, a new word he'd learned. In fact, villages were often attacked - this was nothing different for the Ayndr native, who simply paced throughout the village as he inspected the damage done to the various structures and land. If the Initiative members he came with knew what they were best at, Ji-ho had decided not to meddle in how they first approached the hunt. Best case scenario, he'd learn something new.
So instead of interfering; the red-hemmed, black-robed youth tried to dig up, mentally, what he could remember about the beast in question from these telltale signs given his knowledge of such things - as he then might be able to pinpoint a general location for its feeding, or nesting grounds. Afterwards he would meet back up with Hikari Ayama , Austin Huntsman and whoever else may have come with the same deadpan expression he'd worn all the way there.
Initiating conversation was proving difficult.

Holly Vos wasn't usually the person that sent herself into immediate danger with no concern for the safety of herself and others -- wait, no, that's exactly the kind of person she was. When she heard about this beast thing threatening their neighbors, she practically flung herself at Macht and insisted she join the squad. She was a healer after all, but that was mostly just an excuse to tag along. While the other three armed themselves with whatever they thought they would need, Holly did the exact opposite. Instead of grabbing a medpack or two, she simply threw on a baseball uniform and booty shorts, holding a small pouch filled with candy over her shoulder. As the four made it to Rayn... whatever it was, Holly would stop and observe them all from head to toe, licking her lips suggestively as if they were actually paying her any attention. Was the village half in rubble? Absolutely, but the only thing on her mind was how hot ninja girl was.

Austin Huntsman would find the paw size was massive, about four times the size of his hand alone. There was also a very apparent heat radiating off the ground, warm to the touch and likely dangerous for anyone who wasn't quite so durable as he was. The attack seemed to be recent, and the trail was fresh. Hikari Ayama would see the same trail Austin did, leading out to where the grass was dying and stone took over. Rock and crag formations were abundant, and was not on fire was charred. The beast was not one capable of hiding, it seemed. Ji-ho would be able to recall the Hehamycr was a native of the northern lands of Ayndr, and its numbers were typically few. They never traveled in packs, but were a great challenge all their own regardless. The younger the Hehamycr, the more violent it could be, and the more dangerous its flame. They were massive beasts that could not be tamed, and oft nested in mountainous areas.\ Holly "Sugar" Vos was looking at Hikari, certainly. The lot would all notice the locals seemed to be withdrawn, looking out from their windows at the group from the safety of their homes. None dared venture out, likely in fear of the beast. Perhaps Rayndrusa was not one for producing warriors.

"What do you have?" She spoke clearly to Austin Huntsman , "All I could see was the footsteps heading that way." Hikari punctuated her sentence with a nod in the direction she was talking about, "Won't be too hard to track this thing, I imagine." She leaned against the building next to her, running a hand through her dark purple hair. Hikari liked keeping things straight to the point while she worked but, forging relationships with people could be important, "Name's Hikari by the way, not sure if Macht told you or not."
She hoped to god that no one in this group of 'hunters' was as socially inept as her.

Holly would momentarily take her eyes off of Hikari Ayama to scan what was left of the village. She would frown in annoyance upon discovering nothing, only to take a step closer to the rest of the group. "What exactly are we looking for?" She would tilt her head, swiveling back and forth between her comrades with a childlike gaze. "I don't see any destruction elsewhere..." She would add, placing an index finger on her chin curiously. The dopey girl would continue to hover over the group until her question was answered, but if not she'd shrug it off and simply go back to admiring Hikari until her use was actually required.

"Hehamycr."
Ji-ho's response to Holly "Sugar" Vos 's question was nearly instantaneous, as if he'd been waiting for that very question to finally open his mouth. Anyone who had checked the tracks might've been able to notice some of the key characteristics of the wild animal, though the World Guide didn't expect any of them to know much about it - other than what they might have been told in advance. His amber eyes settled on the drifty, pinkish haired girl before swapping to each of the others in turn while he searched for the right words to describe it in their own language.
"It's.. big. Fire attribute." Ji-ho didn't sound worried, but neither was he filled with confidence. His tone was rather dull; like he was simply reading off the weather forecast for them. In all honesty, the Ninelash wasn't something he really wanted to deal with - but he didn't have the luxury of choice in his world. As the Guide, this was his job: Lead the chosen ones where they needed to be, and help them succeed in places they otherwise might become lost. Ji-ho crossed his arms and tilted his head slightly, his long hair no longer framing or obscuring his face.
"They nest in mountainous areas." He added, only then averting his eyes as he thought about one particular detail that he was somewhat worried about:
Ji-ho really hoped it was an old one.

[/b] Austin didn't feel like he needed to comment on the size of the creature, the others would clearly be able to see it was big from the tracks it left. Though the native with them would point out the obvious. Big and fire. Who would have guessed. He would stand and glance toward the others. His right hand would lift to the frame of the same helmet he has recovered on the day of the crash, with the press of a button the helmet would face shield would find its place. Austin's hands would shift, toward the hilts of two swords that were sheathed, crossing at the back of his waist and his knees would bend, before he addressed the others. "We need to keep a quick pace. If you can't keep up, let me know." Austin wasn't familiar with any of these people or their abilities. There were a lot of unknowns and nm little time to figure them out. Without waiting much longer, he would push off the ground and leap as far forward on the trail as he could and repeat every time he landed. He wasn't the quickest on his feet, but he could jump and clear distance with relative ease. Kiin[/ul] [/blockquote]

Vivi hung near the back of the group, keeping an eye on their surroundings just in case there were any more signs of where the perpetrator came from—or more importantly, making sure nothing came out and tried to surprise them. The young woman wore an armor suit and had a prototype laser rifle strapped to her back even though she didn’t really make it a habit to use firearms. It seemed the group had already found a clue to the trail. Only so many people could gather around the thing, so she continued to keep an eye out while they studied it.

There would be little else for the lot to find as they waited around and kept searching the village. Hehamycr had struck and moved on, and their path was clear. Austin would be able to make great time, and by the time he made it to the rocks, he'd see many of them had marks as though struck by whips of fire. They seemed as though they might break apart, but the impact and the heat kept them together for at least a few moments longer. The further they went along the trail, the hotter it would be. The brown of the sands and rocks gradually turned to nothing but ash, leaving a landscape colored like charcoal. The ground itself seemed to be breaking, perhaps from the strength of the beast. With little effort, they would find it; Hehamycr, the great beast. It stood seemingly over eight feet tall on all fours, and tendrils extended from many parts of its body. On its chest was an opening that fire seemed to pour out from, as though it were its core. The animal was a great, powerful beast with a visage unlike anything they'd ever have seen on Earth. Yet, something seemed... Amiss. Spears, broken in half, protruded from its sides, the wood slowly burning as it extended from the monster's body. It sat, facing away from the hunters, panting - even from this great distance, they'd hear it. It did not seem to notice them so far.

[/i][/b] Those words crossed his mind as he made it to the rocks. He wasn't sure how far behind him the others would be, if at all. Still, as those hazel iris' caught sight of the beast he could only assume was responsible for all of this, his right hand left the hilt of his blade to lift, fold at the elbow and show a fist to those behind him, in attempt to signal them to stop. He would study it for a few moments, taking in it's physicality before his caught the spears protruding from it. His mind would wander toward whether or not this entire situation was actually provoked by those in the village or if those weapons were used in defense of it. Regardless, he didn't think the outcome would change much. They would likely have to put it down. He would speaking, turning head head in the direction of the team and keeping his words low. "Gotta be it, right? Anyone got any ideas or do you want me to make the first move?"He would leave it up to them. Austin wasn't afraid to throw himself into the fire, so to speak. However, if anyone had anything they thought would help their chances, he would listen. Vivi was the only one he knew, those others and their abilities remained a mystery, for now anyways. Ji-ho's eyes trained on the beast from behind the group - the words of everyone else would've fallen on deaf ears if directed his way, his focus being temporarily halted on it as he considered what would happen next- and what he might have to do as a result. He couldn't help but feel that something was off, why was the beast already injured as much as it appeared to be? His right hand raised to scratch at his face as he finally broke his gaze off and he glared at Vivi Eris before looking back towards their target.
The world guide quietly sifted through the inside of his robe to retrieve a small red crystal - it vibrated, resonating with the strong sense of danger no doubt all of them felt to some degree. To Ji-ho; however, it wasn't as much danger as it was anticipation. What kind of sights would he see? He hadn't seen many of the 'Chosen' fight up until this point, and this provided the perfect chance to get a glimpse. The silent young man began to smile to himself slightly as he let go of the crystal, which suspended itself mid-air just behind his right shoulder as it began to grow in size: It was the Guides duty to show them the path, but it wasn't their duty to walk it.
Thus, he remained silent for the time being; and patiently waited for their decisions.

At first sight of the massive creature, Holly felt a big weight lift from her shoulders. Was it that her questions had finally been answered, or that it seemed more docile than she imagined? Hard to say, but what confused her the most was why they were still standing idly.
"Geez, why are we just standing here?" The girl pouted, swaying her way to the front of the group while she dug through her bag of goodies. After a few seconds, she'd reveal a handful of randomly assorted candies, smiling deviously as she clenched her fist.
"I guess I'll have to be the reckless one since you're all so cautious." The word 'cautious' slipped out in disgust. The girl was eager to see what they were getting themselves into - even if it meant suicide. No matter, Holly Vos was fearless.
Before anyone could stop her, she sprinted ahead, slowly transitioning to a skip as candy began to gravitate out of her bag, slowly forming itself under her. In just moments, a giant sentinel made entirely of candy had come to life just below Holly's feet - who had plopped herself on it's shoulder with a big grin on her face. She didn't care if she had given away their location. In her mind, she was ending something they hadn't even begun.
As the sentinel approached the Hehamycr, she balanced herself, readying the candy soaked in the sweat of her palm. As soon as she was spotted - or was close enough, she would command the sentinel to launch her at the beast.
Two things would happen from there: The golem would continue towards the beast, dispersing into candy and gelatin upon impact, and Holly would toss her handful of candy on the beast's head - which just so happened to also be explosives.
What creature could withstand this much sudden impact?

Gifts Used
Candy!: Holly specializes in making candy - each one laced in medicine that provide unique effects. Nobody knows how she makes them, but her purse is full of them. *Mixed Berries (Blue): Uh-oh, I wouldn't eat these skittles if I were you. This slippery candy explodes upon impact with a hard surface.
Candy Golem: Holly can create a giant golem out of candy. Using telepathy, she is able to control this massive construct to aid her in combat or in completing other tasks. Upon taking fatal damage or on command, it will charge at a target and disperse into candy via a huge AOE explosion. It also has a unique ability of its own called Essence of the Candy Golem.
