The Plot As scientific and supernatural advancements throw humanity further and further into the future, the world of man seeks to expand beyond the Earth and out into the endless expanse of space. To do so, however, they must overcome the first evident hurdle: reaching, researching, and colonizing the galaxy they were currently in. For too long, this seemed an impossible task, but with the rise of superpowered individuals, known simply as "the gifted", it became clear that maybe they might just have a shot.
International interest in this endeavor brought about the introduction of what was to be known as "The Starbound Initiative", a global operation meant to train the world's gifted and use them for this purpose. Located in Melbourne, Australia, a facility made specifically to house and train these gifted individuals would be built. From there, the gifted throughout the world would be relocated, and only allowed back into society once they showed competence with their powers. Those who passed the institute's training programs would be given the chance to partake in the Starbound Initiative, or live out their lives as ordinary citizens again.
The completion of the facility marked the next step in humanity's future. So many brilliant minds put together were capable of quickly realizing the goals set by the Initiative, and in less than a year, managed to complete several successful testing attempts to go out into space. A powerful space vessel, dubbed the Starsquall, would set launch from an Initiative site and guide a large crew to complete the most ambitious undertaking the world has ever attempted, much less as a collective unit: to colonize on a brand new planet.
Not everything went according to plan, however; while out in space, the Starsquall lost contact with the Initiative on the ground. Chaos ensued from unknown causes, and the Starsquall soon found itself warping farther across space than intended - before careening out of control toward the center of a brand new planet in a completely different solar system, and breaking apart upon entry into its atmosphere.
Scattered, the members of the Initiative must find each other once again and survive. What will their relations with the natives of this strange new world be like? Will they ever establish contact with their homes again? The Setting The main Initiative building is based in Melbourne, Australia, and utilizes tech far beyond what normal men believed possible to give its people the best education and living conditions imaginable. For the most part, nations remain in at least a steady, if not uneasy, peace. While Anti-Initiative groups do exist, nothing close to full-scale war does.
The crew of the Starsquall is far across space, in a different galaxy, on a foreign planet. The name, apparently, is Ayndr. It is a harsh world, with all states appearing to be on a single continent. The political situation on the planet is volatile, with warring factions on opposite sides of the world, and several states in between suffering as a result.
A map of Ayndr can be found here.
