★ Chisaki Kurosawa ★ Played by: Kiwi Faceclaim: Fate/Grand Order, Majin Saber
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Weight and Height: 110 lbs & 5'1''
Appearance:
Occupation: Captain
Personality: Angry. Ferocity. Rage. These are all synonymous with Chisaki, and that's because she is rage embodied. She is power without restraint, she is anger without kindness. This is what she follows by, and it fits her power greatly. If she ever stopped being angry, where would the oni energy go? Not to mention, she's always angry because of it. That conflict inside of herself. Sure, she has layers to her. Sure, inside she's just a girl banished from home for being a so-called demon, all because her gifts gave her the appearance of one, and maybe that's fueling the fire, but the fire is burning strong all the time. No one is safe from the burn, and as far as she's concerned, better to keep it that way. People who find out typically hate her, or at least back home they do, and she looks like a monster when she's in her oni form. Why not act a bit like a demon if they make her out to be one?
Inside, however, hidden amidst layers of anger, frustration, and unparalleled fury is a scared girl who wants to desperately go back home. Someone scared of the demon always taking over, always owning her, making her fear the day she can't go back. But she will never show that weakness. Never. Instead, she'll be angry if you come near her walls she's built around her heart.
Background: Chisaki was born in a small town in Japan known as Ise, surrounded by shrines all her life. Because of this, her family was always attuned to the religious aspects of town life. She was born to be a shrine maiden, just as her sister was, and together they would grow up happily and become shrine maidens.
Well. That's where Chisaki would like the story to go, but the problem was the manner of which Chisaki was born. Rumors about the wife's pregnancy went around town, and no one knows for sure how it happened. One day, she was just pregnant with Chisaki. Chisaki's mother wouldn't talk about it, but it was truly and justly an affair with a 'demon'. A demon of a man, perhaps, but a demon was he deemed. The father, bewildered by this, knew of her heritage. And yet, despite them knowing, they spread around a rumor that she was a demon from the day she was born. They tried to love her at first, but it was clear what Chisaki was when she became seven.
Immensely strong and hard to control, Chisaki looked nothing like her sister, and because of this, she was scorned by all the town of Ise and her family. She was a demon in every right. Demons didn't deserve to exist, yet there she was. But the mother couldn't bring herself to kill her herself. No. Never.
As she grew up as normally as a shrine maiden pre-demon could, she was taught normal shrine maiden things, such as how to defend oneself from demons. Her Seal gift can be attributed to this, and made it a huge help for Chisaki to exist early on, but later became a detriment as when the demon blood revealed itself at seven and onwards, she was constantly abused for being demonic. And it just so happened her parents got a free pass by calling her an oni now. Hence the name of her second gift. Oni.
Often, growing up was hard. But when she became old enough, at about fifteen, a man came to town. Her father. Her real father. And would teach her the ways of the blade. He too, was an oni, one horn always protruding from his head always. He taught Chisaki the ways of the blade the day they met, and often Chisaki would keep it secret from them.
One day, she lost control. She killed her father in a fit of rage and hatred, only to find out... that it wasn't just her birth father. It had been her sister as well, attempting to banish the evils from her body. But in doing so, her sister had unintentionally released the demon in full. The bloodbath was barely able to be put to her sister... and so, in a fit of fear, Chisaki took her father's kodachi and fled from Ise, out of Japan.
Luck would fall to her, as she lived day to day on the street, eating scraps. One day, she found out about the Starbound Initiative... and the rest was history.
Skills and Weaknesses: + Confidence Surplus - Many consider this arrogance, but there is reason why Chisaki believes herself stronger than most. Physically speaking, few can defeat her, and that's before oni form gets introduced. It takes a lot of negative stimuli to break her sheer amount of willpower, and more so still to make her falter. She is confidence incarnate, and while she may be angry all the time due to the blood, she knows she's a force to be reckoned with.
+ Rage is Power - Especially for Chisaki, channeling that anger constructively is something she has learned to do, and admittedly, the angrier she gets, the closer to oni power she is. Sometimes, this is key, because she'll get more and more angry to gather more power. Think of all the things that she hates, all of her burning resentiment, and channel it to become the demon inside. Sometimes that is necessary. But all she knows is that the more angry she is, the harder she's going to hit, which is... a skill?
+ Kodachi Mastery - Chisaki has an innate understanding of how to utilize short katanas, also known as katanas. She is skilled in the usage of her own blade, however can still use longer blades. She just excels at the shorter blades, such as the wakizashi and kodachi, wielding them with surprising amounts of dexterity for a supposed exiled shrine maiden.
+ Understands Exorcism - While Chisaki was born to a family tied to shrines, she had to be taught how to exorcise demons and ghosts. As such, her family has taught her the bare essentials, and because of this, more divine power, such as that of her gift for sealing, exists within her. It's able to banish the demons away... but she herself cannot banish demons without physically slaying them, as she herself will feel pain from her own exorcising.
- Always Angry - Perhaps one of the problems with being related to oni is a feeling of unrepresed anger in Chisaki at almost all times. Feeling enjoyment in anything is hard enough as it is when everything has a tendency to piss you off. This gives her the nickname of 小悪魔 (Little Devil). Added to any insults to her height, this brings out the worst in Chisaki almost at all times, as she's always angry, and will rarely be content with how things are. The only good side is that because she's angry all the time, it takes a lot for her anger to take over and cause her oni power to kick in.
- High Standards - Without a doubt, one of the hardest captains to please. Chisaki is more angry than not, so getting through that is a task by itself, but she has high standards that must be met. She will take no half-measures, no half-good. It is either you are good, or you are shit. There is no middle standards. If it were enough to have high standards for others, her highest are to herself, and she might get angry when she, herself, under performs.
- Internal Struggles - The problem that exists with Chisaki is that she, herself, is a walking contradiction. Her parents prayed to shrines to keep the demons away, yet the mother so happened to fall for an oni? Chisaki doesn't know the details, but because of this the deeply demonic-hating family gave birth to a demon. She has yet to embrace what people hate about her, and doesn't quite understand how to tackle it. But one thing she does know is that she was exiled for being too demonic... but how can she help that? It's in her blood! Her human side and her oni side are always at conflict with one another, and while transformation does happen on occasion, one might see a good bit of resistance at times.
- Susceptible to Exorcism - Just as she has learned exorcism, she herself feels burns and pain whenever dealing with holy power. This doesn't include the divine energies inside herself, however she often feels immense pain when holy scriptures are spoken at her, or anything meant to banish her. It may not banish her, or kill her, but it's painful enough to make her stop everything she's doing.
Gifts: 鬼 (Oni) - The hilarious thing about the Kurosawa family is that they aren't just worshipers of a shrine; they are also heavy believers in yōkai lore. Wouldn't you know it, Chisaki is not only technically a shrine maiden with seal powers, but also has demonic blood within her. That, of an Oni. Oni are ogres/trolls in Japanese folklore. A one-horned gigantic demon, with immense physical strength. However, being half-oni and half-human, Chisaki only shows her heritage when her anger hits a fever pitch. Her horn is able to be sealed away, but when unleashed, she gains immense strength, taking her strength up a grade. However, a few problems arise when her oni power takes over. Firstly, her Seal gift becomes essentially inoperable, as it's utilizing spiritual power over demonic power. Secondly, the tells are visible to all; a single horn will appear on the left side of her head. Her platinum hair will grow wild, and her hands will grow claws. Aside from that, her mind becomes more primal, wanting to draw blood because she can. Her kodachi might be used with devastating force, but may be forgotten. Not that she needs it. It takes a lot to calm her down from this state, where her horn would disappear... at least, for the early levels. With more levels, the demon blood may make its appearance on her more permanent. But with it, more strength, more durability, and perhaps more lack of control?
封 (Seal) - Prnounced Fēng. Being from a family or worshipers to a local shrine, Chisaki naturally picked up her family's ability to seal an entity's capabilities. While not able to seal gifts in and of themselves, this can range from stopping a visible limb from working (say, a leg to be frozen), to sealing the eyes shut. As long as she uses one hand for this, the marking will appear on her opponent, stopping that part of the body entirely from working as it's intended to be used. However, this requires one hand to start with, making Chisaki wield her kodachi with a single hand. The hand must always make the sign for the seal. Pointer and middle finger pointed up, ring finger and pinky curled down, and thumb to the palm. If the hand sign is broken or stopped by any means, the seal wears off in its entirety, needing to be re-applied. It's also required of Chisaki to see the spot she's putting the seal on. While clothing cannot obscure her vision, she must be able to see where it is the seal is being placed, so a hidden person would go by unnoticed. With practice, the amount of seals that can be placed on the body at any particular time can grow to a max total of three, but more seals means more mental strain.
