Faceclaim: Terra Formars, Adolf Reinhard
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Weight and Height: 160 lbs, 6'2"
Appearance
Alric's appearance, beyond covering his facial scarring and bodily scars, is typically regarded as attractive with long pale blonde hair and eyes that shift between a light green and light blue, and during his youth he was often told he took after his mother - it is also obvious he is of Norwegian and German descent due to . Though underneath his wardrobe contains the horrors of his physical appearance, grievous scars litter his upper body and up to the lower portion of his face, creating a mosaic of damaged flesh. Due to the extent of his injuries, his upper body lacks definition.
Reconstructive surgery has corrected most of his fractured and damaged bones, though the surgery done to his face has only allowed him to recover the upper portion of his face, relying on clothing and masks to cover his facial disfigurement. When his face and neck are not covered, the extent of his injuries are revealed; metal plating has been attached to his lower jaw to secure it and to provide support, while the left and right sides of his face have jagged scars up to underneath his eyes. While his lips are slightly repaired, there is a long scar that goes from the left corner of his mouth to just underneath his eye.
Due to his current situation, he typically has a scowl hidden by his high collared outfits or masks, though his features are extremely sunken. With his Gift eating at his body to replenish it's own energy, he is often extremely skinny and most of his weight comes from the metal that reinforces his bones, leading to even more insecurity issues.
Alric is typically seen wearing high collared jackets that are in a variety of shades between black and white, and Alric's wardrobe outside of those jackets is extremely limited due to his own personal insecurities. When not sporting high collared jackets, he tends to wear a balaclava that only reaches to his nose - regardless of the current weather.
Occupation
Cadet
Personality
Generally regarded as cold and collected, Alric tends to try and avoid forming relationships with other individuals - even acquaintances. Due to his surgery and physical scars, he views himself as a monster to the world and generally has an aura of angst in the words he speaks. Due to his insecurities, he has many issues that stem from those viewing him as a monster, and typically tries to conceal his appearance at all costs - to the detriment of himself and potentially others.
While he isn't known to ever warm to groups of people, let alone individuals, Alric tends to warm to people after getting enough alcohol flowing through his bloodstream - eventually turning back to how he was prior to his disfigurement.
While intoxicated, he is extremely friendly to the point of being obnoxious, though he tends to deny any such things occur.

Alric's tones and mannerisms tend to make it obvious he is of a higher upbringing. While he tries to hide his upbringing in England, it is obvious he has a slight British accent that bleeds through while he arguing with people - and something that embarrasses him. Typically prim and proper when dealing with superiors, he is prone to allow others to speak before him as he prefers to look at a situation from different angles before tackling it.
Background
While Alric is of German and Norwegian descent, he was raised in England most of his life due to his father's occupation as an engineer. Due to how often his father had to work, and with how often his mother had to care for him and his two other siblings, Alric found solace in the private school he went to - a way to escape the overprotective nature of his mother, and to fill the void his father left by working constantly.
Warned with his siblings not to go into the basement due to his father's research being confidential, the time his father spent at home was almost always spent in their basement, outside of leaving for work. Eventually watching the man grow sicker and sicker each day, the family started to worry about him - attempting to wrestle him from his work, though Alric simply watched the man become the one thing he hated - a father so invested in his work that he didn't even care for his family.
When the news of his father passing away due to heart problems was brought to the family, he was the only one unaffected due to his hatred for the man and the fact he viewed himself as his younger siblings guardian - not the man that abandoned them. While it caused his mother to pull back from her duties as their caretaker, Alric stepped up to the plate and became the man of the house - becoming the personal cook and their personal caretaker.
While he found himself getting praise from his brother and sister, his mother seemed to think of him as a curse on the family due to his emotional detachment to their monetary issues. While his mother was finally forced to work a job, something she had not been forced to do since her teenage years, she hated the fact her children looked to her eldest child instead of her.
Becoming an honor roll student due to his grades and his dedication to his schooling, he quickly became labelled as a prodigy. When his mother heard of this, she started to label Alric as the second coming of his father - knowing her son would hate being compared to him. While his sister and brother didn't understand why he seemed so depressed afterwards, the comparison to his father caused him to give up on his studies and that soon started to lower his grades as he sought to become someone better and someone who didn't abandon his family for his own work. While he continued to still impress teachers with his still acceptable grades and his siblings, he slowly became angst filled and by the age of 18 he had moved from home and away from England.
Finding himself drifting from school to school, news of his brother and sister graduating soon found their way to him through e-mails that continued to stack up, things he would glance at before deleting. He found himself despising his family and loving his new life as a vagabond, entering into countless flings along the way as he explored his own repressed emotions - though he found himself distancing himself from humans as he moved country to country.
Eventually moving back to England to discover his family's abandoned home, unaware of what had transpired, he sought to discover what was hidden underneath the house. Breaking into the house and into the basement through a cellar door in the backyard, he found the place practically torn to shreds and papers scattered everywhere. Discovering a machine with something that continued to draw what light came from the opened cellar door, he approached it only to discover something that could only be described as a ball of energy.
Feeling a sensation almost akin to sorrow for the creature that was locked away, Alric tried to locate research papers on it - though only discovering mentions of energy manipulation. While he scanned the scattered files, he discovered the creature trying to break from it's containment, causing him to attempt to flee - only to slip on the papers that scattered the floor. Having the thing break from it's containment, it quickly surrounded Alric with it's energy and imprinted itself onto the young male.
In that moment he witnessed what his father had done to the thing in the name of science, being fed the memories it had while feeding on the man as sustenance. Awakening later that night, Alric could feel a gnawing sensation at the back of his mind, as well as his body in excruciating pain as his flesh and muscles had been flayed in the feeding process. Finding a shard of glass that showed his disfigurement, he became horrified at the extent of his injuries and laid there for two days before being found, starved and practically a skeleton.
Eventually getting reconstructive surgery on his face to at least appear some what normal, his body was permanently damaged by the creature that continued to whisper incoherent words in the back of his mind. Explaining how it happened had many think he had lost his mind due to the extent of his injuries, though he quickly found that what funds he had saved up had been drained to repair his broken body.
Eventually being released, his family had cut off all ties with him and the only friend he had remaining was the mote that suddenly appeared to him, actively feasting on his energy for sustenance while having a childlike personality. After gathering his father's research, he discovered the mote of energy was an experiment he was performing as a way to discover a new form of energy, only for the energy to gain a form of sentience and for it to slowly drain him of his energy. Realizing his father had practically doomed his chances at returning to a normal life, he quickly went into hiding and refused to speak to his family again, becoming cold and relying only on the mote to defend himself.
Naming the mote Eldy, naming it after one of his favorite creatures from the books he read as a child, Alric typically tried to conceal it by forcing it to hide in the collar of his jacket. Though due to it's childlike nature it often liked to spook random individuals that would talk to Alric, pretending to be a ghostly entity as it floated behind him. Growing tired of the mote of energy, the man eventually resorted to hiding away from people so they would not call the local authorities on a 'man who was accompanied by a ghost'.

Wandering Europe as he tried to find a way to rid himself of the mote that gnawed at his mind, he eventually found himself in Australia. Acting as a tourist, he tended to drift between the cities until he finally found himself in Melbourne. Eventually coming across information on an 'Astraeus Institute', it peaked the man's curiosity and soon Alric struck out to try and find a way to utilize his curse in a way to potentially help people.

Gifts
Primary Gift: MOTE OF PITCH BLACK
A mote of pure black energy that absorbs all light surrounding it, this being has attached itself to Alric and has a symbiotic relationship with him. The mote itself is extremely childlike, though only Alric can hear it - leading many to believe he is insane for talking to a floating orb of energy.
While it tends to float over his left shoulder, absorbing the light surrounding the side of his face, he has control of the mote and can redirect it's position to expand outwards and form a miniature gravity well. While the strength of the gravity well is based on how much energy Alric wants to provide the mote with, it's natural form is capable of slowing down a single individual and can rend flesh based on how close the individual gets to the mote.
While it is made out of energy, it is unfortunately capable of being damaged by most means of attack and it will be forced to retreat back to Alric to feed on his energy effectively weakening him.
Secondary Gift: THE EVENT HORIZON
Expanding the mote before him to form a shield of pure energy that is roughly the size of Alric's body, the mote can briefly absorb a certain amount of damage before retreating back behind him to feed on his energy to replenish what damage was sustained during the single attack.
Statistics
Strength: D (1)
Physically weak and frail, your character falls below the human average. This could be as small of a difference as not being able to lift up to your body weight, to as great of a difference as being too frail to lift much heavier than a small bottle of water.
Agility: A (4)
The six minute mile has become considerably less, enough so that if you sprint you can clear a mile between one and two minutes. Your body is fluid and naturally acrobatic, and some of the most difficult maneuvers involving just your body can be performed reliably, even with little prep time.
Endurance: A (4)
By now, your body has developed a resistance to weaker illnesses - not an immunity, but things like the common cold pass far quicker, and lighter allergies hardly have an effect on you anymore. Your skin is tough, almost feeling like asphalt in that it's soft, yet durable.
Perception: B (3)
Your ears can pick up on sounds further away, and you recognize smells with ease. Harsher smells, sounds, and lights have less of an affect on you, but can still have considerable side-effects if they persist.
