Played by: Kenny
Faceclaim: Overwatch, Jesse McCree
Age:
32
Gender:
Male
Weight and Height:
6'4" 225 Ibs
Appearance:
Ambrose has messy unkempt hair of a shade of chestnut, that brushes against the top of his ears and rush down his neck to the base of his skull.. He has eyes like two almond-shaped pools of gold as well as, sharper, almost devilish low-arched eyebrows, his left of which is cut at the exact center, aligned with the scar under his left eye.
When it comes to clothing Ambrose prefers a comfortable but simple look paying homage to westerns of the past. He can be seen in an array of dark colored dusters over clothing that normally consist of a mix of darker colors typically black, brown, red and on deep blues. Consistently he prefers to dawn a black duster over a fitted collared shirt beneath a black vest. His dress pants normally match his duster in color as well as his boots but that’s the only thing uniform about him. In the summer he wears short sleeved shirts, shorts and sandals though at times if he’s drunk enough he’ll pull up some boots. The piece that ties in his clothing is his high crowned black cowboy hat with the sigil of his former company at the base. He also can be seen wearing shades, with a toothpick protruding from the side of his lips.
The noticeable features on Ambrose are his round face, cut brow, and scar under his left eye down to his mouth, his consistent smug smile, wide eyes that beam open for long periods of times, meaning he will often win staring competitions.
During his farming days, Ambrose was forced to develop a significant amount of muscle through manual labor, lifting hay bales, feeding pigs and cows. Jogging through the farm’s vast fields kept him fit, however, he wasn’t all muscle. Although most of his siblings and friends of similar proportions were much rounder and either fatter or more muscular he somehow managed to maintain a tall build bulky build. His muscles were outlined in his arms, calves, and thighs, showing visible muscle definition in those lower regions. His body itself is lightly tanned, not only on his legs but also running down his face and down his torso with a visible tan line at his hips though his lower half isn’t all that much lighter than his skin.
He maintains a strong posture most of the time, however in his expression and temperament, it is obvious that he’s a very laid back person, showing no sign of stress or dismay. When sitting, his default position is kicked back, legs up, hands behind his head, and nonchalantly whistling, or sometimes signing without care.
Occupation:
Cadet.
Personality:
“Ah deal in what ifs, like what if Ah shot you? ”
Ambrose can be summed up in a few words, unpredictable, eager, immature, mischievous, amoral and outspoken. These traits are due to his raising on a ranch. To his family, he's seen as overly enthusiastic and energetic, but to a stranger, he can come off as pushy and arrogant though he is very easily mortified and will apologize for the tiniest of things. Despite his outspoken, and strong attitude there are times when he can’t quite comprehend a dangerous situation from a casual one. Young Ambrose had only four main interest, a good meal, good drunks, and a good hook up, as well as a little money for his services.
With all of that said he is not a man of strong integrity. He isn’t above cheating in games such as billiards, cards or even thumb wrestling, in fact his brother still won’t talk to him for breaking his thumb just to win.
Ambrose's mother if asked would describe him as "careless". Ambrose also tends to lie or exaggerate at times, in a bid to make himself seem more impressive, sometimes showing off to sell how highly he thinks of himself more or less. He also exhibits a one-track mind, often hounding people for money, he cares so deeply about it he often carries a small duffel bag of money, it’s more of a security blanket than anything.
Many other things can describe Ambrose one of which being his work ethic; despite his love of napping, back home he would work harder than anyone else on the farm He likes to keep busy until he feels like he has earned a drink, part of the reason he’s such a good hired gun.
When it comes to making decisions, he is is a man of his own, bull headed to a T, he can’t be told differently no matter what he sees or hears. While he does his best to be empathetic, he's stern in his decisions, if someone doesn't like his choice he wouldn't mind hearing them out, but in the end, he'll more than likely listen to himself over them as that’s just life: Trust yourself before others.
Oh and he’s a tiny bit of a masochist, but that’s mostly because pain is a constant reminder that he’s alive.
Background:
Ambrose is the third and youngest son in a large farming family of nine, even as the youngest son he wasn’t given a lot of attention from his parents. His mother and father were far too busy for him, so his three older sisters would care for him, and his two brothers would teach him about being a farm hand. Though he had more than enough attention from his older siblings, he stores a slight hint of jealousy for his younger sister Vicky, as she always got their parents attention and was their little "princess", the darn girl NEVER did a day of farm work as long as Ambrose was around to pick up her slack.
His father owned one of the larger farms in their small town located in West Texas while his mother was a veterinarian keeping both her pets and patients their home. The Ambrose family lives on a strip of area consisting of 28 acres of land, and in the center rest a large white farmhouse that lies a few yards from the barn of the property.
As a youngster, Ambrose was home schooled by the oldest of his sisters. His second to eldest sister Tabatha would often take Ambrose with her wherever she went leading him to earn a fascination with money given her line of work was at a bank.
When he became of age, Ambrose attended a small intermediate school in town. He was a B-C student in school and managed to balance his class work and his new found profession; the wonderful sport of baseball. Ambrose loved baseball, playing as a pitching hitter for his school.
As he progressed in intermediate school, he blossomed, from a mere child into a skirt chasing, energetic teenager.
As a teen Ambrose fully adjusted to his parent's favoritism towards Vicky. His jealousy would dissipate as he continually did well in school; that is until Vicky's 12th birthday when she received her very own Horse; a mean-spirited white haired mare, on the other hand, had turned 15 a few months prior, and his parents barely gave him a second glance let alone a gift other than a new shovel. Ambrose loved his younger sister, but he couldn't STAND her Horse, it was a distraction on the farm often spooking the other animals or randomly charging or kicking him, that monster was a menace.
Heading into secondary school, Ambrose's interest in traveling grew father as he learned more about the regions outside of West Texm he had taken an interest in traveling the world at one point and was certain it was what he’d do.In the summer, he would take geography based courses and during the regular school year, he would proceed to learn in his general classes.
Unlike most teens his age, he didn't exactly rebel against his parents. Instead, he channeled his frustrations into his craft of baseball; receiving a walk-on tryout from a small university just outside of town after he graduated. Without hesitation, he accepted and would even get to play a few games as the starting pitcher.
After finishing up high school and graduating, Ambrose had a huge decision to make; go to school, or stay on the farm. His brothers opted to remain on the ranch with their freshly started families as well as small homes built near the original farm house, three of his four sisters, on the other hand, decided to move out and live their lives independently throughout Bosco, but his younger sister however still lived at home, not as a farm hand but she was too lazy to decide what she wanted to do. He struggled with the decision for a while; that is until his mother of all people spurred Ambrose into trying his hand at Baseball. He agreed wholeheartedly and thanked her.
Progressing to college Ambrose went to a small university in South Texas, interestingly enough named Texas Southern. College was a breeze, he had passed his classes and took the benefits of being a baseball player with no issue. He was doing so well that in his Senior year he was being looked at by multiple teams in the MLB, though most only offered Minor League development contracts to which he was thankful for and ultimately decided to sign with a team after his senior year. This was the perfect chance for him to travel and see the country! Though soon tragedy would strike him from his ivory pedestal: In the last game of his final season with the team he had thrown a pitch too hard trying to show off for scouts, his arm broke and he went down immediately. In an instant his entire career went down the drain and before he knew it he was put out of school and his scholarship was pulled.
A failure and broken, he didn’t have much of anywhere to go. He was stuck in Texas with no way of going back home, mostly because he couldn’t face his family again after leaving them be, thus he had found himself struggling and homeless. Up until the age of 26 he lived on the road going from city to city finally traveling, but not the way he wanted. Eventually his luck would turn however, squatting in an abandoned building he had found himself at the wrong place in the wrong time, he had found a ad for a bodyguard during a job search in a public library. It was an odd job, but the client promised to pay well and with some lies thrown around on his application Ambrose had found a job!
The client was a bald, stocky man involved in business practices that were simple he was the executive of a company that dealt in furs. Fur trading! Easy enough, no, no it wasn’t easy enough. Ser Ulland Butler made the job difficult for Ambrose despite how simple the job was supposed to be, he had the former farm stand outside of his door for hours on end, and even go into the bathroom with him. It was a disturbing line or work, but it paid the bills.. That was until the day Ambrose discovered his knack for shooting. It was a typical day, up until a few animal activist decided to throw blood on the CEO. Ambrose couldn’t do much, it was just blood but the assumption of a gun was thrown into the air the poor Texan farmer didn’t know what to do besides shoot and with Dead-eye like aim he shot each and every person before coming to his senses.
That day he gave the gun a name, after the first person he shot, he called her Olivia! though he had to get the name from the girl and that in itself was a adventure in itself.
The activist were only injured but it felt good to shoot them with such… grace. At that point he told the CEO to take his pay and shove it away as he had gotten more confident in his skill and ended up become a hired gun! He had no company but alas his latest client has called for his services in the continent of Australia..
Skills and Weaknesses:
Skills
Marksman: As it turns out, Ambrose is a cowboy through and through, a desperado if you will! His aim is exceptionally good and with a gun he is extremely talented being able to shoot the wings off of a fly, if the fly is really close anyway and resting. He's good, but every now and then he misses. When he shoots he often hums a melody under his breath, recalling the untellable tale of how his gun got her name. Few things focus him as much.
Dominant Athleticism: Mostly due to his gift Body Supremacy, Ambrose is extraordinarily athletic thanks to the subconscious control he has over his muscles groups. Consciously he is unaware of his ability outside of thinking his time as an athlete is why he is so athletic.
Stocism: While this is a strange skill to have when he's in immense amounts of pain Ambrose can endure with a smile. This does not mean he is immune to pain or he has extrandary endurance but he can hide how he feels wth quite a Pokerface.
Weaknesses:
Soft Hearted: While he's a big rough and tough bear of a man there are things that make even him take a knee. Ambrose refuses to hurt children unless he absolutely has to, nor would he hurt anyone who can't defend themselves.
Arrogant: There's no thrill in killing an antlerless stag, which is why he refuses to harm the weak, he likes his opponents to be at their best.
Masochist: His Stoicism comes mostly from the face he is a masochist, he enjoys being poked and prodded, beaten bloody and harmed either mentally or physically. He enjoys pain but at times it can be too much even for him.
Gifts:
Dark Matter Manipulation
With this gift Ambrose can create, shape and manipulate Dark matter, drawn from his own being as if it were bio-energy. It can be channeled to a variety of ways a solid, gaseous and/or liquid substance that can be shaped/manifested in any form Ambrose sees fit. While this gift is dormant to him now, it can be theorized that it is the reason he had such a successful baseball career as some of his pitches made have had too much of an extra ‘oomf’ behind them.
All Dark matter he creates comes from his own being but if he were to draw it from an external source unless he masters this ability, it could quite possibly injure him severely. Currently, he can generate small softball shaped projectiles at throw them at enemies, as well as being able to pick up small objects like pencils and water bottles.
BODY SUPREMACY
A second gift unknown to Ambrose, with it he has (near) complete control over the movements and functions of his muscles, bones, veins, and other parts of his body allowing him to move with remarkable grace and athletic skill. With this gift he can control his blood and flesh to move at his conscious and subconscious command which allows him to take control over its motions and possibly augmenting himself in ways that he doesn’t quite understand. At the moment he cannot use this gift unless he has complete focus as it draws on the dark matter he can wield. Currently, he can subconsciously control minor organs such as his kidneys, as well as minor structures such as his fingers being able to make them move on their own accord without thinking about it.
