Nephthys, or Nep, is a fairly short, dark-skinned girl, part Egyptian and part Japanese in origin. Though her frame is small, she's built like a gymnast, lithe and graceful; she also possesses a modest bosom that, curiously, does next to nothing to hinder her movements. She prefers to dress in darker colors, although she does have the rare light-colored shirt, skirt, or scarf in her repertoire. When pressed, she insists that her violet-colored hair and eyes are natural, not dyed. She's not adverse to smiling when she's happy, that much quickly becomes abundantly clear to people who manage to get to know her.
Nep has two signature pieces of apparel, which are rarely if ever seen together at the same time. They are a black hairband with protrusions on top that vaguely resemble cat ears, and [REDACTED: a bleached white, porcelain skull-shaped mask that obscures any notable facial features. Voice is filtered under this mask to further anonymize her. Often accompanied by a black hood and cowl that cuts off at covering her shoulders, which serves to conceal her hair color, unless she's operating strictly at night outside, at which point she relies on darkness.]

Personality: At first glance, Nephthys is a mostly quiet girl. She focuses on her studies diligently and displays prodigal levels of intelligence and perception, yet holds herself with all the pride of a bookworm. A polite bookworm, but nonetheless. When observed at a distance, she lives a largely normal if meticulous life even among the Gifted, manifesting no obvious powers and looking an oddity among her fellows. Though Nep rarely if ever initiates social interaction, she's content to converse with others briefly, though will bow out after an extended conversation when possible due to rising levels of anxiousness and awkwardness. To those who spend enough time with Nep, she's revealed to be a loyal companion to good friends, and will show similar levels of loyalty to a good cause, or at least what she perceives as one. It's worth noting that due to her small stature and thin body, Nep is capable of and unopposed to passing as a small child, able to fool people who aren't aware of her real age and use it to her advantage.
Background: Nephthys is a girl among Gifted individuals. That's all the history anybody knows so far. [REDACTED: Largely unknown, no external sources of intel. Limited information received from parents and her known school life are all that are currently on file. Mother and father are professional assassins: mother is pureblood Japanese and can trace her lineage as far back as the Fuuma ninja clan of the 16th century with certainty, possibly deeper connections to shinobi dating back to the 11th century; father is Egyptian with mixed Nubian and Arab blood, and traces his lineage back to 11th and 12th century assassins active during the Crusades.
Public and private schooling nonexistant until surfacing in Hiraeth City and enrolling in a school primarily reserved for troubled and delinquent students. Upon announcement of the Starbound Initiative and Astraeus Institute, parents submitted paperwork for enrollment online and contacted staff via professional email with documents certifying Nephthys Zein's credentials, verified by various accredited educators, doctors, and physicians. Interview conducted with Nephthys Zein verifies her interest in the program and its goals, as well as her level of intellect.
When asked for motivation, shyly claims to want to do good by others; when revealed that her parents discussed her assassin lineage and profession, became exceptionally professional with staff in regards to vigilante work performed in Hiraeth City, including professing to an undisclosed number of assassinations performed on delinquents, criminals, and persons of interest to local authorities, each complete with a note detailing their crimes. Claims are consistent with murder reports over the half a year spent in Hiraeth City, and each crime on each note has been found to be accurate, whether in public records or through investigative research.
When questioned for her life prior to the period of time spent in Hiraeth City, politely declines to answer in detail, only offering that she “trained and studied from the moment she could walk,” assuring that “none of her past will pose a problem for Astraeus Institute staff.” Has requested the information submitted by her parents and in the enrollment interview be kept classified until such time comes where she deigns to reveal the information to the public, or else she “commits an atrocity that deserves to be known to the world.” Has further requested continued operation as assassin with the caveat that she will not attempt to kill fellow students, staff, or associates of the Institute, and only operate in her off-time. Granted with the stipulation that she report in weekly with any assassinations so that she may be “excused,” and that her personal life not interfere with activity on staff. Stipulations have been accepted and signed off on by both parents (digitally) and student (physically). Has also extended an open offer to perform assassinations on request of staff, preferably in the interest of the Starbound Initiative.]

Given enough time of being unable to leave the conversation, she panics and will simply run off.
