★ Alymira Hargrave ★ Played by: Valo Faceclaim: Kantai Collection, Tenryuu
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Weight and Height: 5'5'' / 144 LBS
Appearance:
Occupation: Ex-Mercenary, Cadet, Leader of Hyperion
Personality: Alymira is a very condescending, smug individual. She believes that everyone is below her, and wants to see her proper place at the top of society where she feels she belongs. To her, it is her birthright, and she'll achieve it no matter how much blood she has to shed along the way.
She is manipulative, willing to use others to further her own goals, even if it means leaving anyone else dead in the water. She does, however, know how to show the proper respect to authority figures, keeping the heat off of herself as to not make things any harder than they need to be. Don't bite off more than you can chew, operate from the shadows, and strike while the iron's hot.
She is generally good at getting people to trust her, but she isn't good at having actual friends. She currently sees others as a means to an end, and as such, tries to never get attached to anybody. To care about others gives you a potential weakness, and she doesn't want to let anyone exploit that the way she would do against others.
She has a deeply rooted hatred for Valo, blaming him for her father's death.
Background: Alymira's earliest memories were of her father abandoning her. She lived most of her life at an orphanage, where she grew up with Valo and Hailey Morei. Considering herself above all the other orphans there, she proved quickly that she was far more physically capable and charismatic than the rest of them, effectively forming a hierarchy that benefited her. If she was hungry, she was able to take extra food from them. If she was cold, she 'won' extra clothing and blankets for herself.
The only kid she could never get to do her bidding was Valo.
Upon his arrival, Alymira tried to show him and his sister early on who was in charge around there. But Valo was always very adamant about protecting his little sister. He opposed Alymira at every turn, making sure Hailey was properly fed and clothed, even at the cost of his own rations. Alymira wasn't sure why she couldn't make him submit, and decided to take things to another level.
Enlisting the help of some of the children loyal to her, she arranged for them to jump Valo in the dead of night. They covered his mouth as they pulled him from bed, dragging him to a secluded room as they started beating him. As he was down on the ground, bleeding, Alymira handed one of the other children a butter knife, demanding they scoop one of his eyes out. She stated that she 'hated the defiant look that he gave her.'
Before anything could happen, luckily, one of the orphanage staff had found them. Amidst all the chaos, Alymira had slipped out, and the child holding the knife was particularly punished. Valo was saved, and soon after, he and his sister were adopted by the prestigious Yuy family. He got away, but Alymira pushed it aside as she was sure she'd forget all about him one day. Soon after, Alymira herself was finally adopted by a wandering mercenary group. They were impressed by her already solid fighting skills, but helped her to further hone them. Alymira became proficient in hand-to-hand combat, deadly with knives, swords, and chains, and a skilled marksman with various firearms. And most importantly, they taught her to get her hands dirty and make the kill herself.
One day, Alymira set out on her own, eventually finding the home of her birth family. She knocked on the door and waited, and soon, an older, gruff looking man would answer. The moment Alymira saw his face, memories flashed through her mind. An violent drunk hitting his children and abusing his wife. Alymira heard screams as her mother was pulled into another room and things were thrown around, the sound of fighting and god knows what else. In her vision, she saw the drunk leave the room after moments of silence as he approached Alymira. A young boy stepped between the two, and the man grabbed the boy by the neck.
"Learn yer fuckin' place, Bishop!" The man roared, violently throwing the boy into the wall as he fell into a slump. A young Alymira lay helpless as her father approached...
Snapping back into the present day, Alymira stood there, sweating and panting as she looked into the eyes of her father. The man looked confused, a half empty bottle of beer in his hand as he spoke. "And who the hell are you?" He growled, and Alymira glared intently. "I'm looking for Cecilia Hargrave." She announced, and the man just about laughed. "My wife is long dead, sweetcheeks. But I'm looking to fill the void she left, if you catch my drift." He said, unknowingly hitting on his own daughter. No... maybe he knew, judging from Alymira's now unlocked memory. "And what about Bishop?" She asked, ignoring her father's attempts. "The little shit disappeared right after his mom passed. Dunno where he is. Don't care."
Disgusted, she would turn and leave the neighborhood without so much as looking back. Tears and anger seeped from her being, and she clenched her fists so tightly that she began to bleed. He had to die. She had to kill him herself. For her mother, and for her brother. For her own peace of mind. All it would take was one moment, and she could assassinate him and be out of there, no one would be any the wiser.
Her desire for vengeance was cut short, however.
Her father was dealing at the wrong place at the wrong time. His group ran into Hyperion, and things had escalated so high that he lost his life to an arrow. Soon, the news came out that Hyperion was led by none other than Valo Morei, and Alymira immediately recognized him as the whelp from the orphanage. He opposed her back then, and now he even took the satisfaction of revenge away from her. She was only filled with a half-joy at her father no longer being a part of this world, but now that was replaced with bitter hatred. Valo took her release away from her, and he had to pay. He had to die.
Unfortunately for her, Valo and Hyperion disappeared off the face of the earth for nearly a year, presumably killed within the District walls. Alymira continued to hone her skills for the next year, not believing Valo to be dead, or rather refusing to believe it. She'd have her chance one day, she was sure of it. Her precision with weaponry improved drastically, and she grew more unattached the more she used a gun.
One day, a man who looked just like Valo appeared before her, but a sinister dark aura surrounded him. Alymira tried to fight him, immediately seeing him to be the object of her hatred, but she was subdued by a strange energy. The man called himself Synkka, and he had a proposition for Alymira, one that would give her the revenge she so wanted. Valo was in San Francisco, in the grounded Hyperion fortress of Helios, and he was currently staying there with a girl known as Soile. Synkka would give her the means to get in, so long as she brought the two of them to him. Once Synkka was done, they would be left to Alymira's mercy. She accepted without a second thought.
The power would be shut off to Helios as Alymira infiltrated, making it inside just before the backup generators powered on. Helios was dimly lit, but following Synkka's floor plans, she made it through with relative ease. She found Valo creeping through the darkness cautiously, immediately attacking him. In the middle of their fight, he saw her face clearly, recognizing her instantly. This pleased Alymira, who pursued the assault relentlessly. Using the darkened Helios to her advantage, with Valo's newfound traumatic fears of water and the dark in mind, she overcame the boy, knocking him out. Alymira looked around the darkened Helios, but it seemed that not only was Hyperion evacuated, but Soile was nowhere to be found as well. She would take Valo with her, taking her time before bringing him back to Synkka. She wanted to enjoy this.
He was placed into a simulation of New York, which Alymira didn't understand. Synkka explained that it would be vital in breaking Valo down to the core, that he was to be stripped of everything he loved before he was put down. To satiate Alymira in the meantime, she was given Hyperion and all assets, which she used to hone her tech to great levels, becoming deadlier than before.
Months later, Valo broke free from the simulation of his own accord, which Synkka had apparently predicted. The two of them clashed brutally, and Alymira joined the fray, itching to get her hands around Valo's neck. However, it was as if a demon had possessed him, and he took Alymira out without much issue. She fell unconscious, terribly wounded, and the last thing she remember seeing was strange men coming in to take the two of them somewhere...
She woke up in Melbourne, forced into the same institute her hated enemy was a part of. It was a world in which she had no control, so she would put her grudge aside for now and work from the ground up to further her own goals. At least she still held onto Hyperion.
Skills and Weaknesses: +Proficient in hand-to-hand combat. Alymira has fought her entire life and does not feel uncomfortable in close quarters, performing well with and without weapons.
+Observant in battle. Alymira tries to remain aware of everything that goes on around her so that she can formulate a proper strategy and react to things quickly. In her mind, it's better to be prepared for every possibility rather than let herself be caught off-guard.
+Tech-savvy. Her time with the stolen Hyperion tech has advanced her knowledge of technology to higher levels. Having spent time constantly dismantling things and figuring out how they all work, as well as having some prototype blueprints that never saw the light.
+Durable. Due to her time training with the mercenary group, as well as continuing to hone her skills afterwards, she has a lot of stamina and can take her fair share of hits before going down.
-When under too much pressure, her composure shatters and she starts acting compulsively. Rationale goes out the window, and her desire to crush her opponent can leave her open to attacks she normally wouldn't take.
-Not good at making allies, Alymira makes a lot of enemies instead (unless for some reason you like a girl like her). This means she doesn't have anyone to rely on but herself, and as such she's not hard to isolate.
-Obessive. When her eyes are on a goal, that goal becomes the only thing she longs for. She'll do what she must to achieve that goal, but sometimes it leaves her blind to what's around her.
Gifts: Hand of Thanatos - Alymira possesses adaptable technology that shifts into various weapon types, ranging from blades to staves to rifles. The weapons vary in strength and lethal capacity, making Alymira a major threat at any distance. The Hand of Thanatos starts as a gauntlet on her right arm in its base form.
Level 1: Alymira is able to turn the Hand of Thanatos into a long katana, with a blade 4 feet in length. This makes her deadly in short to mid-range combat. If fighting at range instead, the technology forms into that of a larger scoped rifle, able to fire off searing energy rounds. She is able to lower the energy output so that they're non-lethal shots. At full power, the rifle has immense recoil and she cannot rapid-fire it accurately, meaning she can only fire a full powered blast once a round.
Ziedrich: A gauntlet on Alymira's left arm that is adaptable for more defensive purposes. It can take the form of various shields with different functionalities, and has other methods of defense built into it as her skill of the technology grows.
Level 1: Alymira is able to create a large shield to defend herself from incoming damage. If she activates the shield and then gets into a crouching position, she's able to guard her entire body. Additionally, the shield serves as a mount for her rifle, steadying her aim should she choose to use them in conjunction. The shield can be thrown at an opponent and be recalled to her via the use of the technology's signature, much like a boomerang.
