--- Yes indeed he should've. Asking would've at least gotten her to think about it - place it into the jar of consideration- instead of just getting denied flat. Lessons can be learned at all ages. Speaking of thinking, it would be a lie to say there wasn't something on her mind when she played with his necklace. Had he asked she might've told him or she might've done what she always did. Brush it off somehow. The subject was slightly sore mostly cause her own thoughts and inner feelings made it so. She was an emotionally stunted individual - some things weren't easy for her to just deal with and put out there willingly to someone. It was amazing that day on the Starsquall he got all he did from her. The liquor helped immensely. But that couldn't be her all the time. She needed to let herself release from the shell without the assistance of some substance. Alas her mind didn't dwell on it in the slightest as apparent by her focus remaining on Austin and the area they were dwelling in.
"That's a lot of hours. It suits you better."
--- The raven had many meanings from what she remembered. Negative and positive alike. It was really up to the wearer what it meant to them. One of the most positive traits it represented often was intelligence and wisdom, and Cereza didn't find him lacking in that department. There wasn't a tattoo she had she regretted. The dreamcatcher on her back though it seemed maybe the least expected of hers, had its purpose and she wouldn't dare considering covering it. Now what she wished she had covered up as the scars on her forearm that he took notice and questioned. Though he didn't indicate that he was accusing of anything - let alone that he was concerned - her mind projected otherwise. For the briefest moment she hadn't even heard the second question that followed, cause she was internally panicking mildly. Damn she was never ever like this. When asked about certain things she was able to deflect with ease, at best she would probably get mildly irritated. But with him, ever since their time spent it was different. It's like the way he saw her, his thoughts about her, actually mattered to her. It was new and she didn't know why or how to deal with it. On the outside she didn't show a nervousness or at the very least she strongly tried not to. Her eyes shifted to her forearm, mentally damning herself repeatedly for her carelessness - only to have what he said after finally press through the fog.
"Mmhm, a little after. Some creature I didn't really get a look at."
--- She said as she moved that left arm from around his neck and placed it under the water, out of sight and rested her hand on his side. Those marks didn't look like they came from any creature. The lines were too perfect, evenly spaced and equal in size. The last of the six had looked like it was the freshest one, just healing entirely not too long ago. It was clear they were self inflicted but she was trying to get away with the lie. She smiled and chuckled, it almost sounded nervous as she joked further about the scars with a playful shrug.
"Well at least it was poisonous and hasn't changed me into some alien hybrid right?!"
--- With a quick peck on his lips, Cereza would swiftly dip under the water between them but manage to push herself away to the side and around him. For a brief moment she took time to notice where they swarm the depths almost seemed endless. There was a bit of curiosity as to how deep it went or even if there was a underwater grotto - or maybe something more. Man was her thoughts jumping about, couldn't be helped when she was trying to change the subject. Still under the water Austin would feel his pants tug, and soon the where off. There was a mild temptation to let him drop to the depths - a temptation she was going to entertain and let them go. Oops. Cereza would resurface slipping between him and the rock with a smirk, slicking her hair back from her face.
"I figured I'd be nice. Feel better?"
--- Yes.. Yes she sure did let them go and didn't care one bit. That was apparently from the smirk on her face and the slyness in her tone.

[/b] Cereza might have been able to pick up from his tone, that Austin wasn't so sure he believed what she had told him, despite having no intentions of pressing her on it at the moment. He was attempting to do the right thing and not cause an arguement for no reason. He also didn't want to be the cause of her closing up completely again. Now just wasn't the time, he recognized. She would give him a little kiss before she disappeared below the surface of the clear water in which they swum. Its clarity allowed them to see relatively well I to its depths only to see it turn to darkness with no obvious bottom in sight. It was definitely an interesting formation. He had no clue how it was formed and only had spent a few brief moments contemplating its origins, before those thoughts had slipped away. He would eventually feel his pants being tugged at by the woman below the surface, potentially her attempt and ensuring his mind got sidetracked from the mention of those new scars. She would break the surface shortly after with a smirk on her face and his eyes would narrow. It didnt take him long to realize that she had just used both hands to sweep her hair back and his pants were no where in sight. "I feel free- But hold up.. What did you just do- Did you just let my pants sink!?" Austin would feign shock and horror, exaggerating his disbelief with an open jaw. So that was the game she wanted to play huh? She would surely regret this, he mused. It was the he would lean forward and sweep his arms, looking to scoop her up with one arm at her upper back and the other under her legs. His own legs would kick to keep him afloat as he would twist and then heave her upward in attempt to lift her up and out of the water, do she could arch down and splash into the center of the water hole. Not high enough that it would hurt her, but enough for her to make a bit of a splash. He would immediately let out a chuckle before he turned and grabbed the edge of the rocks once again, pulling himself out of the water. She got what she deserved. Sure, he still had a pair of boxers on.. But he couldn't remember if he had even packed extra pants. He would straighten up and turn to face the water and ultimately Cereza as she resurfaced. However it was there that things would seem to take a sudden turn for the worst. He didn't know what it was, however those hazel iris' would catch sight of a shadowy form beneath her. It seemed to be growing larger and moving quickly from the depths toward the surface- Toward the girl he had just tossed in the center of it. His eyes widened and he immediately began shouting "CER!! GET OUT OF THE WATER! SWIM THIS WAY- NOW!!"Hopefully she would be able to move quick enough to avoid what would break the surface of the water. A large serpantine form with it's maw spread wide, lifted upward spewing water from its mouth and by waves it created as it stretched upward. The shock of it's sudden appearance had taken him by complete surprise. The beast would twist and curve it's long body as what appeared to be four or so eyes fixated upon Cereza's form. The smart thing to do would have been to turn and go get his weapons, however his body reacted before his mind had settled on what to do. In fear of Cereza's safety, mainly. His knees bent and he would kick off, launching him out over the water and toward the serpent that would snap forward intending to make the woman it's next meal. A roar escape his lips as Austin tight arm reeled back before plunging forward in a super-man punch to the top of the beasts snout. Austin would be able to put out enough force deflect and knock the creature's head back into the water. It only seemed to dive right back into the depths as it's body slithered before it's tail end broke surface and snapped toward him in mid air. A pained grunt would escaped Austin's body at impact as it knocked him from the sit, tight back onto the rock surface he had jumped from. The landing was rough, causing him to roll and scrape across the surface of it before he finally came to a halt, swearing out loudly. [/ul] [/blockquote]

--- Certainly she picked up on his mild sarcasm while noting that he wasn't going to pursue her lie - at least not presently. It was a welcomed relief considering she managed to change her attitude to something more pleasant for the time being without the need of something foreign in her system. Truthfully she never did need anything, but also she had never been - while at least not in a very long time- that moody since all this started. Nevertheless she could appreciate him not pushing the matter, not today at least. Getting into some foolish stubborn filled argument was not something she preferred at this point. It was going well so why take the chance at ruining it. Austin's decision to take the road of least resistance was a wise one.
--- True her little stunt was to divert his mind from the subject. She didn't want to be grilled about it. Had she not shaken it off herself, she was tempted to exit the beautiful waters to indulge in what was in her jacket pocket to be at ease. But that would've only made matters worse and open the floor for more questions or him truly getting on her case. Instead she opted to toy around with him by discarding his pants so nonchalantly. Cereza wouldn't be able to resist laughing at his expense. The shock and disbelief that befell his face was more than enough to tickle her while she offered an 'oops' like shrug in response. If he hadn't brought an extra pair that was entirely his fault, after all this was his outing he should be more prepared. But soon she would regret it she no doubted that. Vicious cycle and all. Austin grabbed her in a scooping motion in the midst of her amusement, and though she knew what was coming next she didn't bother doing much to fight it. She could barely speak she was enjoying herself too much.
"Au--N-no no - Aah!"
--- It was all she mustered as he sent her sailing to the center with a splash. See now she was going to have to pay him back for that. There was some time needed to think of what exactly. No doubt he would be on his toes a little more now so she would have to wait for when he truly least expected it to strike. Speaking of striking. Cereza broke the surface with a gasp of air as she shook her hair from her face. She still wore a grin, preparing to say something against his foolery but the puzzled expression on his face gave her pause. Was there something on her? No he was looking more downward. Something beneath her? It caused her to look down noticing a large shadow figure coming straight up. Her eyes widened just as Austin began to shout. She cursed under her breath. This was exactly something she was secretly uneasy about when seeing the darkness of the depths before. It seemed she had every reason to be. Whatever it was this was its element, which meant it had a hell of an advantage.
--- Cereza wasn't without options but she certainly wouldn't be able to move towards Austin. If she attempted to go forward she wouldn't really be able to propel herself on the surface to really beat it, however if she submerged and pushed back she could manage to just get out of its way enough. There was no hesitation in her course of action as she did the latter, however the current it produced unbalanced her swim forcing her to reemerge catching the site of the creature roaring through the surface water. Water sprouting everywhere. She was semi relieved to have missed being swallowed - no Captain Ahab here - but she wasn't out of the woods yet. She was still stuck in its domain, a little thrown by its sudden appearance to say the least. Damn that sucker was quick as it twisted and locked onto her immediately, attempting to strike out again. Again she made a choice to dive under this time to the side headed towards the waterfall, just as Austin was leaping forward to attack. Their predicament wasn't the best in the slightest and her knives were in her bag far away from her. The creatures head splashed into the water as Cereza came up near the rocks behind the waterfall, pulling herself out and up top just in time to see Austin get smacked harshly with the serpents tail mid air.
"AUSTIN! Shit."
--- She exclaimed loudly then the latter under her breath. 'Where did it go?' she silently thought to herself while she was mildly curtained by the waterfall. She didn't feel exactly safe where she stood, it was too low and not enough cover. About a ledge above there looked there was a hidden cave. But what the hell was lurking in there if anything? Should she take the risk or what? Austin had gone down hard and honestly she felt a little helpless. He might not have known what her gifts even were but what was worse was her being unable to use them as of late. Another little tidbit he didn't know. She really wanted - needed - to get to him not only to check on him but to move him away from the edge. Play time was over, they needed to get out of dodge. Just as she was about to make a move the serpent reappeared angrily through the water. This time its hunger shifted to the currently downed Austin and Cereza wasn't going to have any of that. The nearest things to her were some rocks, ok it wasn't much but it was enough to draw its attention as she threw them and shouted.
"HEY! NOT HAPPENING UGLY! DESERT'S BETTER ANYWAYS!"
~This is so not smart. If we survive I might kill him myself~
--- With its focus on her it drove to strike like before but Cereza would time a dodge, as its head would slam hard into the rock formation. She scaled the rocks as quick as possible getting to the second ledge, where in fact there was a small cave while the serpent shook off that mild headache. Safe to say she only pissed it off more as now she was the target once more. The creature snaked its form to where she was, as she quickly sought refuge in the not so deep cave. This wasn't good. But when the creature tried to stick its head in to reach her, not only was she out of reach but its head was too big. So maybe it was enough, or at least it being a tight fit helped. Cereza pinned herself against the back wall of the cage as it kept attempting to snap at her, shaking the stone in its endeavor. Tenacious and determined thing it was, but what was that hanging off the side of its mouth? Was that Austin's pants? Maybe she shouldn't have dropped them after all huh. She hoped Austin would've gotten up by now and given her distraction he could use those weapons of his against big blue here.
"HEY! I FOUND YOUR PANTS!"
~Anytime now.. anyfuckingtime now~

[/b] Austin found himself gasping for air after he had hit the rocks. That thing hit him hard. He had always found himself to be a rather hardly person, but this planet was a constant reminder that he had to be much more careful now than he had to be in the past. He would shake his head, groaning as he finally pushed himself back onto his feet. His side was throbbing from the blow. This thing was definitely dangerous. If either of them got hurt here, they were almost an hour from Terra Novus. He couldn't afford to waste time. His eyes snapped toward movement, the creature had surfaced again and was facing the waterfall, looking as if it was striking at something. Austin's teeth would grit as he turned and ran toward their equipment. There was a certain anxiousness that accompanied his movements. Cereza was in danger. He had made a promise and he had to keep it. He would snatch off two of those grenade-like objects attached to his belt, one of which his thumb pulled the pin and dropped it at his feet. The other remained in hand as he twirled around and tossed it out over the water. Thankfully he had practiced throwing these things excessively when he had them developed. Few people have ever actually witnessed him use them, or even knew what they were for. As the creature regaled backwards once again, Austin didn't see Cereza's body hanging from it's mouth at least. The grenade would hit the top of it's sloped head, through the waterfall into the cavern of sorts behind it. Austin couldn't see what happened next, but the one he had dropped st his feet would explode. It wasn't concussive, however it would spew crimson liquid and spatter it about, leaving a puddle beneath him. On Cereza's end, depending on how much like resided within, a canister of some kind would pass through the waterfall, pinging off the rocks and landing shortly in front of her. Two seconds would pass before it expelled Austin's blood inside of her shallow protection, most likely all over her in the process. Outside, Austin's blood-spattered body would crouch and press his palms against the puddle. With little hesitation, it was as if he dove into the water itself and entered the Sanguine Road. His form would slip upward through the puddle inside the cavern quickly, before the blood rolled off his body. Austin would be facing her, unaware of the creature behind him reeling it's head back again, intent on strike. "I got you!" It wouldn't matter because his arms would stretch out and clutch Cereza, pulling her in tight before it felt like the floor had given out beneath their feet. Cereza would see red, before it darkened to black. She would feel warmth and an oddly familiar presence as she was surrounded. The black would shift to red again as they emerged upon the rock shelf by their equipment again. "..I told you I won't let anything happen to you." Near the end of his sentence, he would finally let her go as they stood in the pool of blood he had made. For a moment, Austin had almost considered the worst case scenario. She had been lucky the cavern had been there. The serpent's attention was still currently focused upon getting it's prey behind the waterfall, but it was likely it was going to realize nothing was behind there anymore, shortly. "Maybe we should get the hell out of here?"It probably wasn't going to be that easy, however he didn't think staying here and fighting this thing was a good choice to make. He had felt that single hit as it was, this thing could do far more than just hurt them. As frustrating as it was to him that they might leave so early, he sure as hell didn't want to be a meal and he was sure Cereza felt the same. [/ul] [/blockquote]

--- Cereza was normally a really calm person in most situations. She liked the thrills of adventure - being a thrill seeker/risk taker herself. However this was a whole new kind of experience, a month in or not. Honestly she hadn't explored as much as Austin probably did, but even so she remained fairly calm given that there was a water serpent desperately trying to make her its meal. Sure there was some adrenaline pumping, but there was some fear. One had to be completely insane not to be scared at all. Her predicament wasn't ideal, even though it couldn't reach her it was threatening the integrity of the cave. So if she wasn't eaten she was probably going to be squashed. If not squashed, probably trapped and suffocated to death. She couldn't really pinpoint which one really seemed more pleasant, or lesser. Eaten was quicker then slowly being losing all oxygen from your lungs. But enough of that, neither was going to be her fate. She knew Austin was hurt however believe it or not she placed enough trust and faith in him to get back up. She, the one that trusted almost nobody, trusted him. Not only trusted but more importantly believed in him. Little did he know one night made a world of difference, even with her purposely being distant.
--- Now though she was scared enough of the serpent she kept her composure to a fault. As the creature pulled its head further out than before, she contemplated the idea of making a break but she actually found herself hesitating not seeing it as a sure path. She hadn't heard Austin either, but maybe he hadn't heard her who knew. There was no time to create a catastrophe in her brain about him right now, but what was that that just touched her? Cereza was a brave girl, true, but really big bugs was were she drew the line. This was an alien planet it was doubtful bugs were normally a suitable size and one just managed to crawl onto her bare shoulder. Her head snapped immediately and all she really saw was huge antennas. That was more than enough to cause a quick panic as she sharply gasped, reacting without thinking as she swatted it away while she moved a little forward. Her back now facing the entry, trying to see what the hell it was. Just as sudden as that occurred did she feel the splat of thick liquid all over her back, some sprinkles on her cheeks. Cereza froze in shock. What had just happened? Catching sight of the blood didn't help pull her out of the daze. Did it get her? Was she dead? Was it all over just like that?
--- She was so out of it when Austin appeared behind her his voice was so muffled. It was just a faint echo as he grabbed her and the floor gave way. So she was going to Hell huh? She never figured Heaven's gates were opened to her anyways. Guess she got what she deserved right? But she didn't really feel dead. If she was why did it feel warm and familiar? Wasn't death cold and lonely? Through the dark there was suddenly light again. Wait so was she welcomed in Heaven or not? This was confusing. Wait it couldn't be cause....it looked a lot like that world they crashed on and um that thing was still there. This time Austin's voice stood up, snapping her back into reality. She wasn't dead. Not being dead was a great start, time to continue keeping it that way. In her stupor words spilled from her lips loosely as she stared at the serpent that hadn't noticed it was gonna have no fill today.
"I...found your pants... You...don't.. really need them."
--- Immediately she blinked a few times, shaking her head, breaking herself out of the trance and completely back into some sensibility. What did Austin say? Oh right, that they should get the hell out of there. Yeah that sounded about right and she wasn't about to argue that. She turned to him, giving him a hard nudge in his shoulder as she moved passed him to gather her bag, jacket and boots. She didn't care so much for the shirt and pants - she had a spare and besides she wanted to move quickly away.
"What the hell took you so damn long huh? This was no time to be napping."
--- Yes she scolded. No she didn't outright say thank you. Typical Cereza. There was still a playful hint way behind it all, maybe even an bit of anxiousness dashed in. She was already moving away from the circular death trap while rushing him along. There was a path different than the one they took. It seemed the better option than trying to go up especially considering beasty was awake.
"Mind hurrying the fuck up please? I think I had my thrill of being bait. And I would very much like to find a simple stream that I can see the bottom of and wash this --- is this blood? Ugh.. I can feel it all over my back..ugh. "
--- She really was grateful it just didn't truly show right now. Her goal was to skedaddle as soon as possible, as swift as possible with him. It might've seem like she was upset or annoyed but she wasn't, at least not with him. With the situation? Yes. With herself? Yes.

[/b] His words came out after a short sigh of relief, low but still likely audible. Cereza blurted out something about him taking long and he would snort as she began usher him toward their stuff. Despite the situation, he wasn't going to let her get snippy with him without leaving her with his own smart-ass retort. "Ayy- Don't get your panties in a bunch, Darlin. I'm fuckin' goin!" Austin's head shook after he spoke, pushing toward his gear. He would scoop the belt up, clasping it around his waist without any regard to how weird it looked with him just wearing his boxers and the belt. His backpack was next, which he pulled up and tossed onto his left shoulder. Out of curiosity, coupled with paranoia, Austin threw a glance backwards and over his shoulder to keep tabs on the massive angry creature behind them. It was a good thing he had done so, because it was in the process of sweeping around and had caught sight of them. Gritting his teeth once again, Austin called to Cereza without looking back as he turned to fully face the serpent and draw the two swords from their sheaths. "Fuckin' run! I'll catch up to you- Just go!"Austin didn't want her to argue, he didn't want her to disagree or waste any time doing anything remotely similar. It was very apparent by his tone that he was dead serious when he spoke. There was doubt in his mind that they would be able to simply outrun it. Especially if this thing wasn't specifically limited to staying in the water. The serpent would open it's maw and let out a roaring, high-pitched shriek that forced Austin's eyes to squint from the noise produced. It would then dive back under the water. A few tense, short seconds would pass before it broke surface close to the edge again and then slithered up and over. He groaned under his breath, quickly realizing his hopes of it being water-locked were shattered. Stay cool.. Be the hunter, not the prey. Austin would steel himself, focusing before the large blue rapidly approaching monster. Did he think he could kill it? Maybe, maybe not. Hurt it though? He had to try. If they just ran it was probably going to chase. Judging from what he was seeing, it was quick enough to catch them. He had to attempt to ward it off. His hopes were at the very leas to injure it, make it believe maybe this wasn't worth the meal. Austin couldn't afford to see whether or not Cereza had heeded his words. Instead he spread his feet apart and bent his knees as he could hear the heavy, leathery scales of the beast scraping against the rock as it freed itself entirely from the water. His heart was pounding harder than he could ever remember it doing before, the adrenaline that coursed through him in this moment would cause him to forget his throbbing side as he pulled his swords to the ready, blades held downward in his hands. One thing Austin knew for sure, he would never forget this experience. The massive snake-like creature would swirl it's way toward him before it recoiled backwards as it prepared to strike. An obvious tell, Austin had noticed earlier. He would jump upward and forward as the strike came in. He would hit the crown of it's head, sliding up the slick, blunt horns as he was forced into an uncomfortable roll up and over. Thankfully the top appeared to feel much slicker that it's head. Austin would find himself sliding uncomfortably as his boxers wedged up his ass as he slide the length of the creatures body. "Gaah-!" This part was probably going to hurt him a little, he couldn't change his mind now if he wanted. Groaning, he would roll himself forward as he approached the tail end of the creature and he would roar out as his arms swiped downward. The blades would cleave the last couple feet the serpent's tail from it's body. Austin's bare feet would hit the rock and he would be forced forward into a roll. His swords would clank against the stone as he tumbled forward a few times before splashing into the pool of water like a damn cannonball. He was able to mostly protect his head during the rolls, but his body had absorbed everything else. He was still concious, but dizzy as all hell. Lacking air, he fought to keep whatever he still had in his lungs and catch his bearings as he looked to break the surface a few feet above. He didn't like this one bit, being back in the water. His mind was filling with all the possibilities of what could happen now. He would be lying if he didn't admit that it was thrilling, to say the least. He needed to survive for that to happen. --- Her bloodied right hand shot back a middle finger in response to his retort, only after actually fix her underwear a little. Given the ordeal they were a bit in a bunch but that was besides the point. The quicker they got out of there the quicker she could deal with aesthetics later. More importantly the quicker they got out of there the safer they would be, at least from that creature. But somewhere in the pit of her stomach she didn't feel right. Call it intuition, call it watching too many Sci-fi movies, whatever - but something was telling her this was far from over. She might've been acting like they could just simply briskly walk away but she knew better. Years of always looking over her shoulder told her they weren't out of the woods yet. Just as she was prompting herself to peer back Austin shouted for her to run. He was essentially telling her to leave him to this while she just ran away. Ran away to where? To what end? There were a lot of things she had ran away from, a fight was hardly one of them. Though she was smart to know when a tactical retreat was necessary this was one she couldn't justify. She couldn't leave him. She wouldn't. Call her stubborn, but she made a promise too. Even if she hadn't made it she still wouldn't just abandon him. She had a few good paces of a lead on him so it gave her a decent head start if she had made that choice, which it was clear he wanted her to do.
--- In brief time that everything was happening she remembered that time back on the Starsquall when she yelled at him, telling him she never asked him to be her 'white knight'. She still didn't ask that of him and yet here he was protecting her again. She didn't necessarily think he believed she was weak, but that he was being a protective honorable guy. Still, as the creature proved that it was of land and sea much to their dismay - Cereza looked at Austin and thought how crazy he was. But that's part of what she liked about him now wasn't it? There was the potential of death staring both of them in the face, prompting Cereza to mutter under her breath.
"Not today."
--- Cereza had dropped everything, quickly reaching into her bag pulling out two items. A flare and a thigh holster that held throwing knives. Swiftly she clipped the holster, getting up just as the creature was reeling back to strike and Austin leaped forward. She popped the flare to draw the serpents attention like a moth to the flame. Her idea was the hope it would keep its attention and not snap its head to move against Austin, nor to follow her so quickly. Why? Cuz the minute she popped it, she dropped it and made a break towards the left and then straight basically following Austin's ungraceful movement along the serpent. Austin cutting off the beasts tail naturally angered it, but caused it much distressed - meanwhile he ended up in the water exactly where she was mentally projecting he end up. His fall looked rough. She knew he was a tough one, could withstand mostly anything - but this was a far cry from just fighting other special individuals. Levels differed here. She knew that hit from earlier took a lot out of him and no doubted that this only added to the former. There was no hesitation as Cereza dove in a few short seconds after him. It only took a few hard strokes to get to him, noting his struggle. He would feel her hands grab his face more than likely startling him since she wasn't supposed to be there technically. She pulled his face to his to engage his lips granting him some of her air, before locking her left arm under his arm - kicking and pulling him to the surface. She didn't like being in the water again herself, but once they broke she spoke after a gasp of air. Now who was the crazy one? Crazy and stubborn, that's Cer.
"Not a word. I don't want to hear it. You can do that thing again right? Come on."
--- She was serious this time too. She didn't want to hear him scold her or tell her that he told her to run, she really didn't care. She was here now and they were gonna leave together. It read in her eyes, also without saying it they said that she had made a promise too. Judging by her question it was clear she meant his transporting technique and that her idea was to go into that cave. She only assumed it was possible for him to do it again, after all why not? The factors still seemed to be in play right? She pulled him along in the water towards the waterfall as the serpent was roaring in pain, flopping back into the water. It would be very hard for it to truly propel itself like before without its tail.
"Without its tail it lacks real mobility but I'm more concerned about their being more and them hearing that."
--- She said getting onto the first rock formation and helping him up, before starting to quickly climb to the cave she was once in. It was a short climb especially for their heights. At least the creature wasn't on land now, they had a chance if he could do that blood teleport like thing and get them back. This time they would or should be able to just run and get out of dodge, but she believed they had to hurry. She really doubted there was only one living down there.

[/b] His tone suggested he was agitated, even so he would help to work their way toward the waterfall again. Once they had gotten inside, Austin would pull and adjust his boxers as his body moved forward and crouched down, assuming a similar position as he had when he first used it. Despite that whole the, his bag had managed to stay strapped on his shoulder, though it was soaked now. He would quickly readjust it to his left side so there was more room for her. "Get on my back, hold your breath. We're gonna grab your shit and then run. It's gotta be feelin' that shit. Maybe it'll give up.. Just hang on tight." Austin could hear the serpant approaching again and as soon as she had settled herself in, he was going to pull them through one last time. Her experience wouldn't stray too far from her first, once again they would emerge upon the rocks again. This time he wouldn't waste and time, he would scoop up his swords with one hand, before shift his eyes around to focus on Cereza's bag. He would then leap to it and scoop it up with his right. Austin was in pain, however he couldn't give up. He needed to get some distance and he thought the smartest way to go was back up. He didn't want to argue his point. "Keep holdin'- ON!" His words came as crouched again and then jumped, heaving both of them into the air. They would touch down halfway up before he would leap again with bit of a audible groan escaping him in the process. This would put them next to the river they had initially encountered. Austin would give one final leap and send them further down the river's length. This time though he would take a knee and shake his head. "I can't.. keep that up right now- By foot. J-just gimme a second." His sentence was a little drawn out as he had to take a few deep breaths in between words. He was still worried about that god damn creature. He would take a few more moments to compose himself before Austin straightened up. "If we follow the river until it bends left, we can head off to the right and eventually meet up with the trail we took here.. Not much of a time difference." There was still a look of agitation on his face, however he kinds just sounded worn out at the moment. It also appeared as if he was ignoring her at the moment, potentially to keep his cool. All in all, this had totally not what he had hoped would happen today. Who the fuck knew that damn thing was going to be in there? He would begin to move and try to keep up with whatever pace Cereza set, while still trying to keep an ear out in case that thing was able to scale the waterfall. [/ul] [/blockquote]

"I'm sure it will."
--- He was upset with her. There was no denying it. Right now wasn't the time to speak on such matters. They could have it out or whatever later. For now she complied as she situated herself on his back as instructed, arms wrapping around his neck. Once on the ground they needed to quickly grab her things, and get going. Honestly even though she heard the creature too, she strongly believed its mobility had been severely hampered and cause of that their chances had increased greatly. She held her breath as he took them once more. Without wasted time once on the rocks again he grabbed his swords and leaped over to her bag scooping that up. Luckily her jacket was hooked onto the bag but her boots were left behind, little to her caring. Knowing and hearing him in pain gave her no relief or satisfaction. It made her feel bad that he got hurt trying to protect her. If anything she felt like there should've been more she should've done, but truthfully her options were so limited. If only her so called gifts were working maybe, but even then so. She hated relying on them anyways.
--- Nothing would stop the feeling of helplessness, weakness she was currently feeling. But if there was any truth to be told, without her support it could've been worse for him no? He could've gotten eaten after the tail smack right? She wasn't thinking a tit for tat argument in the slightest. It was more something to tell herself and if he did scold her. With each land and take off, Cereza groaned a little in kind. It was a bumpy ride on her end. Her attention was split between concerned for him and the serpent below whom had not caught sight of them, lucky them. Landing at the top, through a small groan she tried to say his name only to have him jump once more landing in a kneeling position. She shared his deep long breaths as she peeled herself off him, plopping into a seated state next to him. Her chest heaved, her heart throbbed all from a mix of feelings. There was an excitement about it, as well as a fear, anxiety, concern and joy to be alive. Though it was hard to settle on one to feel, she did settle on focusing on the man before her.
"You should rest."
--- Those words went ignored it seemed as he straightened up as he directed his attention forward and onto the path they should take. Worn out or not she knew agitation when she saw it. Trust, she has agitated many people throughout her life to pick up on it quickly. He was trying to seek control of her temperament and truthfully she should've just left it alone but it was like a bad habit that she couldn't. At least not this time. Once upon a time it was easier when she didn't give a damn, but with him - well she gave a damn. All the faults in her coding had been breaking free like a wild virus and she wasn't too thrilled about it. It all started that day where he added to the mix placing ideas and possibilities in her mind that sounded, honestly attainable should she attempt the effort. But that day she made a promise as he did to have his back and this was one of this times that the chance to keep it had shown itself. He needed to know she wasn't sorry for not leaving him. Whether it came out right or not was another issue. Pulling herself up she took a deep breath and exhaled.
"If you're expecting a single sorry from me you aren't going to get it. I'm not sorry."
--- Good job Cer, good job. Very pleasant. Her words might suggested otherwise but there was no hostility in her tone. She would take a step in front of him for two reasons - one being that he faced her and two being she could watch behind towards the fall even though she was positive it wasn't coming. It would've already if it was that determined and if it saw them but it hadn't. It should've been nursing itself by now. Grey hues stared into his hazels so he would understand how serious she was.
"You want to be angry with me fine. Let it out then. But understand this I was not going to leave you. I told you I didn't ask you to be my white knight."
--- She couldn't control the nature reactionary functions of her body right now as she visibly was trembling, a mix between entering and exiting the air and the rush of the air against her wet skin - but underneath that was someone that was scared. He was scared too no? She didn't want to lose him when she could've done something. She didn't want that guilt, she was already carrying some much of it she didn't need anymore. It weighed enough already. It might've seemed like she had been scolding him but really she wasn't. In her own way she was trying to say she cared deeply for him. That she couldn't standby do nothing nor abandon him - that she never would.
"I made a promise too. I wasn't about to break it. You matt--"
--- She cut herself before finishing that sentence. It was still hard for her to just open and spill her feelings. Instead after falling to formulate the sentence she snatched her bag from his hand, moving a little closer to the river dropping it on the ground near the edge. She'd step a little inside and sit, letting the water go past her as she tried to rinse off the blood that was still present. She could've used some help considering it was still most on her back staining her dreamcatcher tattoo. Diving back in earlier hadn't completely rinsed it all away. But this course of action, coupled with her following tone was her closing herself off again yet she still peeked from her closing shell slightly.
"It's not coming. It never saw us. You're hurt just - just sit. Give me a minute I'll .. take a look."
--- Her hands still shook as she rubbed to get it off her arms, it bothered her. Not the blood just the situation as a whole. Go on an adventure right? Oddly enough she found herself shaking her head and scoffed a chuckle to herself.

[/b] He would pause, dropping his own bag against the shore of the river. He would finally sheath his swords before he lifted his hands to the back of his head, elbows out. A slightly groan escaped him, his left side already showing a darkening bruise taking hold. "Gah- Doesn't change the fact that you should have just listened to me, Damn it- What good would have come from both of us gettin' fuckin' killed?" While he wasn't yelling his tone was stern, harsh. To be honest, while he wouldn't admit it, Austin probably wouldn't have done anything different if the roles had been reversed. Now that the adrenaline and tension had slipped away, the pain was coming in waves. Potentially broken ribs, if he had to guess along with a plethora of scrapes and cuts across his body on his arms, legs and back. Cereza wanted to take a look and while he wasn't in the mood to be poked and prodded, he would not withdraw from her. Instead he would plop himself down and take a seat upon his wet bag, while his right hand cupped his side and his left lifted to place two fingers against the bridge of his nose. "Next time just do what I say- I totally had it, I had a plan and everything. You didn't even wait to see it play out- Tch." Okay so, that wasn't exactly true. He hadn't actually had a plan after attacking, but she didn't know that. He still thought he would have been fine. Her throwing herself into danger when he was trying to do the same for her, well that was counter-productive to his actions, he believed. It was likely a hypocritical approach to reasoning, however in his head he didnt care at all, at least not right now. Austin cared little about his own cleanliness right now either, not bothering to wash the blood, dirt and gravel from his visage. After all these years, it was one of the few things he was still use to- Being dirty, covered in blood, whether it was his or anothers. He also hadn't made any attempt to help Cereza wash over. He was too busy stewing in his own anger. It would likely fade in time, however right now he couldn't help but remain upset. [/ul] [/blockquote]

--- Oh so he knew better huh? Didn't think she was capable of apologizing huh? Well that wasn't entirely true. She was capable if she was truly sorry - but even then the question would be would she. So maybe he was more correct than incorrect, still she had surprises left in her. Maybe she wasn't as cruel as believed. Or as self centered or selfish. Change right? It was hard for one to do so when constantly reminded in some form or another of their faults. Not that he was doing so, it was the situation as a whole. She could've left him in a heartbeat. She could've let the creature potentially eat him while he was dazed from the first blow, but she didn't. Did she regret it? No. She would've made the same decisions again and deep down she knew he would done the same had the rolls been reversed. If he was to say any differently would just be a lie. As he groaned about how she should've listened and what was the use if both died, she found herself silently mocking his words by bobbing her head and lipping them while rolling her eyes.
--- She was trying to be nice before. Her niceness was being tested. In fact despite that, the notion that he was even getting reactions out of her was an achievement. This was a woman pretty well put together. Never let things crawl on her face that she didn't want to put out there, but with him as of right now if he could've seen it, it was the total opposite. She was slightly wearing her emotions or displeasure's rather proudly without the slightest care. Yet for now the time being she had let her mouth refrain from responding, choosing to listen to his frustration. The funny thing about it was if he knew better than to expect an apology from her then he should've known better to think she would be a 'obedient' one. He didn't say the word but its like she felt the implication in the end and it rubbed her the wrong way. Obedience. Maverick instilled that into her in a different form and though of course it wasn't the same, she always vowed not to give someone power like that over her. Yes this was just a simple 'listen', not remotely carrying the same weight or sentiment, still it was her decision in the end. He didn't get to make that choice for her. If she saw it was best to go then maybe she would've, but she didn't.
--- She rolled her eyes even harder, finding herself laying back in the stream as the machismo exuded almost intoxicating into the air. She understood, she really did but she smelled bullshit and she wasn't the type to let that fly. Nope. Though over and over she was telling herself to be nice, being nice didn't mean don't call the bullshit. Cereza was a tell it like is was girl, if he didn't recognize that by now he was in for a wake up call then. But the point was how was she going to approach this. There was the lash out, there was the stern and harsh tone he had taken that she could dish back. Then there was the method where she could throw in some entertainment. She closed her eyes, taking a few long breaths before getting up from the water and moving towards her bag just a small few steps away since she was in the shallows. The choice had been made. Going into her bag she retrieved a wash cloth and a container with water. Casually, silently she walked over to where he plopped himself down, taking a sip as she neared closer. Once directly in front of him, between his legs to be exact she crouched down on her knees in front of him and poured some of the water on his head with a shrug.
"You reek of bullshit."
--- He would find her head tilted a little to the left, looking at him with a nonchalant smirk on her face.
"Enough of the macho act alright. You're suffocating me. You're so full of shit about having everything planned out, spare me Austin. If I hadn't even distracted it the first time you would've been eaten. I mean you were laying there like dinner on platter."
--- No she wasn't mocking him in the slightest. She recognized he was hurt and she had long acknowledge that, that was even more of the reason why she stuck around the second time. Her tone suggested a mix of her trying to keep the mood a little light all the while telling him the truth with some sternness. She would quickly poke his left injured side hard and continue on.
"You took a hard hit. You're not invincible. If you're mad because your pride and ego are bruised from me helping you? Then I'm even more not sorry. Like I said I made you a promise too. You watch my back I watch yours right? That was the deal or am I mistaken?"
--- If he was looking at her she would find herself lost in his eyes as she was lost in the memory of their time anyways. It started to show in the softening of her voice.
"What good would it have done if you died? I wasn't gonna just stand there and do nothing. And I wasn't going to leave you. Hesitation is what leads to death, be it mines or yours. Who else can I have these quarrels with if you're just gonna be fish food?"
--- Cereza offered a small nervous chuckle, wrapping her arms around and clasping her hands on his neck should he allow. She wasn't trying to be sensual or anything of the sorts, just to hold his attention really.
"I mean is that how you wanted to go out? Cause we can go back, I can push you in."
--- She was really trying to lighten everything, even laughed a little again. Truth be told sure she was nervous about what happened but the day didn't have to be ruin. Guess she was trying to change. Trying to be a bit more optimistic.
"Some adventure huh. So let me take a look at you and we can see what other trouble we can get into hm? That was a hell of a morning wake up call no?"
